Rules Q&A
- Q: I target my weapon-wielding Kensai with Tamori Takeshi and send him off to an attack against Yoritomo Hiromi. Hiromi proceeds to use his Battle action and destroy the unit. I react to the targeting by playing Hundred-Fold Cut and destroying the weapon as a cost (it would be destroyed anyway). Does my Kensai survive the power of Thunder or not?
Relevant text:
Yoritomo Hiromi Bowing, destruction, and movement from Battle actions Hiromi performs will not be negated or delayed. Battle: Target an enemy card without attachments, or an enemy unit, with a lower total Gold Cost than Hiromi's unit: Hiromi strikes with the power of Thunder. Destroy the target.
Tamori Takeshi Open: Target your Personality: Takeshi helps him meditate. Effects of actions the target performs will not be negated.
Hundred-Fold Cut Reaction: After another player's action targets your performing Kensai, bow or destroy one of his Weapons: Negate his destruction from the action's effects.
A: "Will not be negated" is not itself negation, so Hiromi wins. Hundred-Fold Cut cannot save you. Brook Cunningham, "Tamori Takeshi vs. Yoritomo Hiromi", 4 Sep 2013 - Q: I've got a question about Takeshi and his ability. If Takeshi uses his ability on a personality and the enemy plays a card that prevents you from assigning or moving to a battlefield, can your personality still assign or is a card like Cleansing Breath needed so your personality can assign?
A: Assignment is not an action, so Takeshi will not help you overcome an effect that prevents assignment. It would however overcome a card that negates his movement to battlefields, if you played an action that would move him (for instance, Kyuden Kitsune's trait). Jon Palmer, "Tamori Takeshi vs cards that prevent you from assigning", 15 Mar 2013 - Q: As somewhat of a follow-up to this thread, while Takeshi's ability will not allow you to negate a send home effect that states it will not be negated with a performed negation effect, it would prevent your opponent from stopping your use of that card with Inexorable, correct?
A: No. Inexorable does not negate anything; it says another action will not negate actions. This is not in and of itself negation, and therefore Takeshi has no effect on Inexorable. Jon Palmer, "Tamori Takeshi", 23 Dec 2012 - Q: Regarding these questions: viewtopic.php?p=1323227#p1323227
Is there a timeline for getting some answers? I'm also curious how his effect work against things such as Iron Will and Entrenched Position.
A: Answered. And as with everything else that says "Will not be negated", this prevents Iron Will and Entrenched Position from negating the effects. Jon Palmer, "Re: Tamori Takeshi questions", 16 Nov 2012
