Rules Q&A
- Q: With regards to: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=106599
The present rules text on the Rule of Location states:
"A card in a unit must be at the current battlefield to be targeted by, or explicitly perform, an Engage, Battle or Interrupt action. "
Isn't Taigo's ability targeting conditional to the Interrupted action actually moving any units?
In that case, how come - at the time when Taigo's Interrupt targeting occurs - he can target a card that has moved *away* from the current battlefield?
A: Because Taigo's targeting needs to happen after it is determined if units have moved, he can only destroy a card moving into his battle, as that is the only thing legal for him to target. This is a reversal of the prior ruling. Jon Palmer, "Moto Taigo xp continued", 5 Mar 2014 - Q: Can Moto Taigo trigger his interrupt if a personality is moving from home to a battlefield that he isn't at?
Can his interrupt be used when False Route is moving 2 personalities away from his battlefield? Or must Taigo be also moved with False Route?
A: The restrictions on Taigo's Interrupt mean that he must be at the battle currently resolving. It doesn't matter where the Personalities are moving to or from, but he must be there.
So question 1 is a no, and question 2 is a yes, whether or not he is one of the Personalities moving. Jon Palmer, "Moto Taigo Exp and any movement card", 22 Jan 2014 - Q: Is the new action type Interrupt interchangable with the action type Reaction for the purposes of the rules in EE?
A: No.
http://rules.l5r.com/EE_Battles#B._Combat_Segment: "Engage, Battle and Interrupt actions must follow the additional rules of Presence and Location. Reactions are not subject to rules of Presence and Location." Brook Cunningham, "Moto Taigo exp and EE reaction rules", 15 Jun 2013 - Q: Can Moto Taigo perform the tactical rulebook ability of discarding a card for a force bonus three times in one turn?
A: Yes. There are no intrinsic limits on the number of times per turn you may use the Tactical Advantage player ability, just limits imposed by the rules for Tactical actions and the number of cards you have in hand. Alex Jones, "Moto Taigo", 28 Jan 2013
