I am not sure if Harbingers of War allow me to draw when attaching Paneki's Mask.
Please enlighten me.
A: No, for the same reason given in that thread. You are not using the rulebook Equip action when you attach Paneki's Mask. Jon Palmer, "Paneki's Mask and Harbingers", 29 Sep 2013 - Q: In light of the changes in the Comprehensive Rules due to Paneki's Mask, I just want to preemptively verify that the ruling on Firm Censure and the Equip action stands, since the Equip action is not from the attachment itself.
A: The Equip ability is unaffected by these changes, as the card enters play as an effect from a player ability, rather than as an effect from an ability on the card itself. Since the Equip action's effects are negated, the attachment stays in hand and never enters the entering play area. Alex Jones, "Negated Equip actions", 20 Mar 2013 - Q: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=102385
The player using the Mask is aware that the personality being brought into play will be dead before the resolution of the Masks' ability. Therefore, he does not fulfill the section stating 'the player must be able to meet all requirements to bring those cards into play legally', since the Mask will not be able to attach on resolution?
Or can you explain why this doesn't apply here.
A: The Good Faith rule requires cost be able to be played and a legal Personality be chosen for the attachment. The fact that she dies before the action's resolution just makes one effect fail. Jon Palmer, "M'Rika and Paneki's Mask followup", 17 Mar 2013 - Q: Paneki's Mask Limited: If this card is in your hand, target your dead Personality who was in play during your last turn: Bring him into play, ignoring costs and restrictions, and permanently give him Shadowlands • Undead. Attach this card to him (you must pay its cost). Lose 3 Honor.
M'rika After M'rika enters play: Gain 2 Honor
if M'rika is dead for having chi 0, can i use paneki mask infinite times to bring her into play and win 2 x infinite honor?
A: Not infinite, as the rules on infinite loops say you have to state a number of times. However, "2 million times" would be perfectly appropriate and work. Jon Palmer, "Alderac Entertainment Group • View topic - Mrika and Paneki's Mask", 17 Mar 2013 - Q: I have Chiisai in my discard pile, dead, and he was in play during my last turn. Would targeting him with Paneki's Mask result in him being put into play and the Mask remaining in my hand, usable once again on the same turn since it is still "face down & out of play"?
If so, do I need to pay the Mask's cost (i.e. is the bracketed text on the Mask just explanatory or a specific requirement)?
Either way, would I be violating the Good Faith rule with such a play?
(I picked Chiisai as an EE-legal example, but I was actually thinking about old-school Onis with a similar trait...)
Chiisai Crab Clan • Nonhuman • Elephant Will not attach Items. May not perform Iaijutsu or Political actions. Melee Attacks may not target Chiisai's Followers. Fear Battle: Target an enemy Personality with 5 or lower Force: Chiisai charges him. Move him home.
Paneki's Mask Shadowlands • Unique Limited: If this card is in your hand, target your dead Personality who was in play during your last turn: Bring him into play, ignoring costs and restrictions, and permanently give him Shadowlands • Undead. Attach this card to him (you must pay its cost). Lose 3 Honor.
A: This is not a legal action, due to the attachments clause of the Good Faith Rule: If the action involves putting one or more cards into play as a non-optional effect, the player must be able to meet all costs and requirements to bring those cards into play legally, in order to meet the Good Faith rule. This includes having a Personality who can legally attach any attachments to be brought into play. Alex Jones, "Paneki's Mask and Chiisai", 28 Feb 2013
