Rules Q&A
- Q: The Remote Monastery of the Dragon says "You cannot Recruit Monks with another Clan Alignment." But what if I gave a monk my clan alignment with Suikihime's Sanction? Technically the monk would still have another clan alignment even though it would have mine.
A: "Another" in this case means "other than yours". Now, very true, if you use Suikihime's Sanction on a Monk who already has a Clan Alignment other than yours, giving him yours still won't allow you to Recruit him.
However, if for some reason you use SS to try to give your only-Dragon Clan Monk another instance of "Dragon Clan", that doesn't cause any problems with the Stronghold for two reasons. First, if you try to give any card a keyword that it already has, that effect fails. So, it can never possibly have two instances of "Dragon Clan". And even if it could, that still wouldn't violate this sense of "another". Brook Cunningham, "The Remote Monastery of the Dragon & Suikihime's Sanction", 18 Apr 2014 - Q: Edit: It gets worst in Legacy as Monk is a clan alignment itself and therefore I would[n't] be able to play with almost any personalites.
A: Now, this one is just very true full stop. Unless/until a special Rule is made for that Stronghold in Legacy/Big Deck play, you will never be able to Recruit ANY Monks while using it in those Formats, whether they have your CA or not. Brook Cunningham, "The Remote Monastery of the Dragon & Suikihime's Sanction", 18 Apr 2014 - Q: Just wanted to confirm that Bayushi Nitoshi XP1 (http://imperialassembly.com/oracle/#cardid=10480,#hashid=f29ae0a720c346db52915168ebb0f637,#cardcount=1) is not Loyal? I know that these are very obvious but just want to confirm for my play group before I throw him in other decks.
Assuming he is not loyal he is a legal target for: 1) Oath of Fealty (http://imperialassembly.com/oracle/#cardid=5641,#hashid=e3523e04438c1d1e58b4cf98d16c55ee,#cardcount=0) ? 2) Suikihime's Sanction (http://imperialassembly.com/oracle/#cardid=10557,#hashid=9121e672e1aed5183522d884b20ec2fc,#cardcount=3) ? a) if Suikihime's Sanction is legal to play on him he retains both Clan Alignments correct?
A: You are correct, he is not loyal. As such for a non-Scorpion player he will be affected by Oath of Fealty (tho it doesn't target), and you may target him with Suikihime's Sanction, giving him your Clan's alignment as well as Scorpion. Question: If I play the strategy "Suikihime's Sanction" and on my province by targeting to Otomo Demiyah, Can proclaim and obtain 2 honor?
thanks for the answer!
A: Yes. Once Demiyah gains your clan alignment, you may Proclaim him. Jon Palmer, "Suikihime's Sanction", 26 Jan 2014
