Rules Q&A
- Q: Are Fortifications Yoritomo Mikaru brings into play bowed?
Example: I use Mikaru's ability to buy a Poorly Placed Garden. Mikaru's abiliy states "Recruit a target Holding in your Province (entering play bowed), for 1 less Gold." while the Fortification trait is "Fortifications attach, straightened, to the Province from which they entered play."
Which card takes precedence? Will I be able to bow the PPG for Honor?
A: Mikaru's "(entering play bowed)" text is reminder text, and as such is not actually an effect of his Limited ability.
As such, any Holdings brought into play by his ability will follow the normal method of entering play for that Holding, including coming into play unbowed if they are a Fortification. Ben Higgins, "Mikaru buying a Fortification", 20 Dec 2013 - Q: Under current rules, you don't "Recruit" holdings (or Personalities). Recruit isn't a mechanical thing afaik.
Does Mikaru work as intended in EE, or is she blank until IE rules concerning Recruit come into effect?
A: She will work as intended under EE.
We are in the process of completing the addition of the EE/IvE crossover rules to the CR.
For all intents and purposes, the process of Playing Personalities is Recruiting a Personality. Ben Higgins, "Yoritomo Mikaru + Recruit", 22 Oct 2013
