Rules Q&A
- Q: If you are playing a duel deck, and you play Blue Skies [...Challenges may not be refused], then play Solitary Engagement [send a unit of both players home, then yours challenges the other to a refusable duel], can that duel be refused? The terrain says it cannot, but they are no longer at the battle when the challenge is made. Thank you.
A: The challenge would be unrefusable. Terrains can have effects that go beyond the battle that they are played in, it's just that most usually don't. Vaughn Derderian, "Post for June 23rd, 2003", 23 Jun 2003 - Q: Solitary Engagement and Blue Skies
If Blue Skies is in effect and Solitary Engagement is played, is the duel refuseable?
A: No. Jeff Alexander, "post for 10 January 2003", 11 Jan 2003 - Q: And the real question. If I have Blue Skies in play for the battle, and play Solitary Engagement, is the duel refusable or not?
A: It is not. Blue Skies affects all challenges while it is in play, not just those made by cards in the battle. [card text] Jeff Alexander, "post for 6 December 2002", 7 Dec 2002 - Q: Blue Skies immediate terrain Political battle: Actions may not be canceled and challenges may not be refused
Another time when you reveal this card as a focus for a duel, cancel the duel.
