Rules Q&A
- Q: Quick question and I couldn't find anything on this specific case so I apologize!
Does Unexpected Discovery require that the battlefield I move my unit to be unresolved? I only ask because A Moving Battle specifically states that a battlefield must be unresolved whereas Unexpected Discovery does not make such a claim.
Defensive Grill is another example of a card that specifies unresolved.
Unexpected Discovery: Battle: Move your target opposed Personality (at the current battlefield) to an adjacent battlefield. A Moving Battle: Before this battle resolves, you may move one of your opposed attacking Personalities at this battlefield to an adjacent, unresolved battlefield.
My assumption is that if you move a unit to a resolved battlefield, the unit would just go home if attacking and remain at the battlefield if defending via the resolution of battle rules, but I wanted to check and be sure!
Cheers!
A: You are correct, Unexpected Discovery does not require the battlefield be unresolved.
You are mistaken however, that an attacking unit moving to a resolved battlefield would automatically move home. He will move to and remain at the resolved battlefield until it ceases to exist, when then the unit will return home, bowed. Ben Higgins, "Unexpected Discovery", 7 Jan 2014
