Rules Q&A
- Q: Hi,
Daigotsu Geiko : After a Dark Virtue, Fear, or Maho action resolves, if Geiko is at the current battlefield, give him +1F.
Kikage Zumi Initiate :Negate Fear effects targeting this Follower.
Can I make a Fear 3 effect on Kikage Zumi Initiate ? The action will resolve, but the follower won't bow and Geiko will still receive +1F ? I guess the action still resolve, only the effect is negated and Geiko doesn't need the effect to be succesful to trigger, right ?
But if a card would negate the Action itself, then I guess Geido wouldn't gain the +1F ? (don't have an example handy, sorry)
Thank you for clarifying this for me. *edit : Precision in title...sorry*
A: Your first inclination is correct. You make target Kikage Zumi Initiates with a Fear effect, its effects (bowing) will be negated, but Geiko will still gain his +1F. Jon Palmer, "Daigotsu Geiko and Resolving action", 19 Jul 2014 - Q: Hi,
Can a fear action target an already bowed personality/follower, resulting in a resolving failed action and giving Daigotsu Geiko +1F ?
Also, when targeting the personality, is it legal to target a personality/follower with more force than the Fear effect ? (ex. Fear 2 targeting a 3F personality/follower)
If so, will it also result in a resolving action that failed and still giving Daigotsu Geiko +1F ?
Thank you for your time.
A: Yes in both cases. You may target bowed cards with Fear abilities, and you may target a card with a Fear ability that will not bow it. Jon Palmer, "Fear targeting and Geiko", 15 Jul 2014 - Q: For reference Daigotsu Geiko's Trait reads: After a Dark Virtue, Fear, or Maho action resolves, if Geiko is at the current battlefield, give him +1F.
These may be a silly questions, but
First, can this trait occur multiple times?
If So: I was curious as to exactly how Daigotsu Geiko's force bonus actually works, because I've been in a situation where the force of the enemy personalities and followers is too high to actually have the fear effect bow something. Can I still target a 4 force personality/follower with a Fear 2 effect and get the triggered force bonus from Geiko's trait?
Another related question, can I also target an already bowed personality/follower with a Fear effect to trigger his trait?
A: 1. Triggered traits occur each time they are triggered; multiple times in a turn even, if it so happens that way. (Worth noting, unless otherwise stated, effects only last until the end of the turn, so all Geiko's extra Force goes away then.)
2 and 3. Yes, you can target cards that the Fear would not affect (either because their Force it too high or because they're already bowed), just to have the bowing fail and Geiko to get extra Force from his trait. Brook Cunningham, "Daigotsu Geiko Force Bonuses", 29 Jun 2014
