Rules Q&A
- Q: 4.) Can I target a Veteran Samurai with Brash Hero? (Is the Veteran Samurai considered to have less than 3 Chi?)
A: My copy says "0" in the Chi lantern, and 0 is less than 3, so, yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 April 2002", 9 Apr 2002 - Q: 1. If you Brash Hero a personality that's subsequently bowed (favor diving, et al) , is the targeted player still forced to declare an attack with no units (So you may counter)?
A: By Gold Edition card text, no. The attack is only mandatory if the targeted Personality is assignable. Jeff Alexander, "post for 7 November 2001", 8 Nov 2001 - Q: Greetings all,
I have a question about the event "An Empty victory" (yes Zen, I looked in the archive first).
An Empty Vitory Until your Events Phase two turns from now, if a player has one of the two highest family honor totals (or is tied for the highest) when his or her attack phase begins, he or she must assign at least one unit to attack another such player.
Unlike many other "You have to attack" type cards (Brash Hero), this one does not include the text "if possible" which raises the question "Can I bow out my personalities to avoid having to attack?"
A: The "if possible" is implied. If this Event resolves, and you have no eligible personalities to assign, then you just can't assign anyone. There's no penalty. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for August 14th", 14 Aug 2001 - Q: During my Action Phase, I control one Shiba Daizan whom my opponent targets with Brash Hero: if I declare an attack, I must assign Daizan. Am I compelled to declare an attack or is my Attack Phase still optional this turn ?
Thanks.
A: Brash Hero only requires that if it is legal to assign the target, you assign him. It does not require you to make any optional decisions to create or enter an Attack Phase. You don't have to choose to have the Attack Phase of your turn, nor do you have to play any Action or Trait you might have that creates an Attack Phase. Martin Lund, "Brash Hero and Attack Phase", 19 Nov 2007 - Q: If I play Brash Hero on a legal target. Does my opponent have to attack me on his turn?
A: No. Zen Faulkes, "Brash Hero", 18 Nov 2007
