Rules Q&A
- Q: I also had a question about In Stillness, Forge the Soul. This card lets me look at the top five cards of my Fate deck and equip a weapon to a targeted Personality, but if I target a Kensai and don't equip a weapon, the strategy goes back into my hand. Does this mean I can just repeatedly do this every turn to rearrange the top five cards of my deck and just choose to put the strategy back in my hand? Again, it reads like I can do exactly that, but it just feels too strong to just constantly do it.
A: Yes, you're reading it correctly. And it's not really that strong; I mean, every turn after the first, you're only seeing ~1 new card out of the five you look at. And you're sacrificing having that card constantly in hand, which can't help you whatsoever in battle, for the sake of that peek, whereas your opponent's entire hand could well be useful battle actions, giving him or her the mathematical edge in that regard. Brook Cunningham, "Ring of Fire and other Questions.", 25 May 2014 - Q: According to the rulebook
After drawing all cards at the end of your turn, if you have more cards in hand than the maximum, you must choose and discard cards from your hand until you no longer have too many.
This means that if I play A Game of Dice during my Action Phase, I will draw my normal card during my Dynasty Phase, then another 2 from AGoD before my turn ends, and then I will discard to my current maximum (if needed).
What happens with effects like In Stillness, Forge the Soul targeting a Kensai and not Equiping a weapon? The card reads: "...you may put this Strategy back in your hand before the turn ends".
Does this mean I can trump the maximum hand size and end my turn with 9 cards?
For Legacy fans, does Prayers & Blessings works the same way?
A: "Before the turn ends" means immediately before the turn ends. This will be after you discard down to maximum hand size, so In Stillness, Forge the Soul would allow you to carry an extra card into the next turn. Jon Palmer, "End of turn + In Stillness, Forge the Soul", 5 Mar 2014
