Rules Q&A
- Q: Break the Wave (-3F to followers). Now all followers are immediately -3F. If I move a personality into the battle, that gives +1F to all followers in the army, are the Followers going to get the bonus of +1F?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 18 July 2002", 19 Jul 2002 - Q: (If say I had all 1F followers to begin with. And Break the Wave comes in. -3F is now 0F. Move in the army taskmaster, and they all gain +1F. Is it 1F -3F +1F, 0F. Or is it 1F. -3F makes 0F. +1F makes 1F.)
A: 1 - 3 + 1, for a final result of 0 due to the minimum value rule. Jeff Alexander, "post for 18 July 2002", 19 Jul 2002 - Q: Akodo Map says "Bow before you play a terrain to increase all numerals on the terrain by 1, including gold cost." As an example, Break The Wave "Immediate Terrain. Each follower in this battle has -3F"
I just want to be clear, increase to me would mean that BtW would give each follower -2F. There is the possibilty some would read it as increasing in whatever direction the number currently is, so -4F. Thanks
A: "Numeral" is defined in the Glossary on page 74 as "a number written using digits...including any '+' or '-' sign". (Note that this is not what "numeral" means in the usual sense -- in L5R, something like "14" is one numeral, not two.)
"-3" is one numeral. Increase it by one and you get -2. Jeff Alexander, "post for 2 April 2002", 3 Apr 2002
