Rules Q&A
- Q: * Shamate Pass and Broken Sword of the Lion. I play a Broken sword of the Lion. All the peeps I own (ie the ones in my Dynasty too) are dishonored. I reveal one on Shamate Pass, its honor is still 0 (Printed PH, reduce to 0 because dishonnored + 2 then applay dishonnor again). When he is rehonored, what's its PH?
Shamate doesn't say a thing about printed PH, BUT it says pemanently add 2.
A: It is a permanent +2 PH bonus. It stays there even after Dishonor is ended. Dishonor imposes a 0 PH - Maximum - on the card. When that 0 PH cap is removed by becoming rehonored, the current PH of the personality will be Printed +/- modifiers, just like any other stat on any other card. In this case, that would be Printed + 2. Martin Lund, "Rules for 5 January 2005", 8 Jan 2005 - Q: (W)hen a Lion player ataches the Broken Sword of the Lion to a personality and dishonor him can I react with Doomed Intentions to kill the personality he atached the sword since it was result from his Limited action?
A: No. Dishonor is the result of a trait, not an action. Zen Faulkes, "Broken Sword of the Lion + Doomed Intentions", 27 May 2007 - Q: Rullings seem to be that Broken Sword of the Lion successfully dishonours all your personalities, even those face down in decks in spite of the rullings that all face down out of play cards llose all card memory.
What happens if I play Broken Sword of the Lion, and then one of my personalities get's rehonoured before being shuffled back into my dynasty deck?
Reshuffling effects include: Misdirection, Search For Advantage, Tormented Plains.
A: The ruling that effects that work on things you "own" affect everything, including cards in decks, is changing slightly as of now.
One time effects with no duration (e.g., Broken Sword of the Lion) occur, but are immediately negated on face-down, out of play cards. (Yes, this is a reversal, before anyone asks.) Effects to cards you "own" that are applied continuously (e.g., Shiro no Soshi, Experienced Yoritomo Katoa) will effect face-down, out of play cards as usual; no change there. Zen Faulkes, "Broken Sword of the Lion + personalities returning to decks", 25 Nov 2005 - Q: Lose 3 Honor. Dishonor all Lion Clan Personalities you own.
Lion Clan Personalities you control have a Force and Chi bonus equal to their personal honor.
Question : Does the bonus only apply to re-honored personalities? Or is it that until they are re-honored their bonus is 0?
Also does having the sword in play automatically dishonor all personalities you bring into play until they can become rehonored again?
A: Continuous. Zen Faulkes, "Broken Sword Of The Lion", 14 Mar 2005 - Q: Also does having the sword in play automatically dishonor all personalities you bring into play until they can become rehonored again?
A: Yes (Diamond rules, pg. 59, 70; Archive, General, Dishonor). Zen Faulkes, "Broken Sword Of The Lion", 14 Mar 2005 - Q: Dishonor applies a maximum of 0 to PH, this maximum is removed from your Paragons with Shamate Keep, therefore with Broken Sword of the Lion on the board, your Lion Paragons gain its Force and Chi bonus equal to their current PH regardless of if they're dishonorable or not Assuming it's just these 2 cards involved, that bonus is equal to base PH, anything that would affect PH would affect that bonus as well
A: Whether that bonus is their base or not depends on any other potential modifications, because the bonus is equal to current, but the maximum of 0 from dishonor is not part of the equation thanks to the Stronghold trait. Ah; Marcus wrote the second part of his post above simultaneously with mine, which says the same thing. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 11 May 2025
