Rules Q&A
- Q: Dijuro deck building beckoned me to ask this question:
Suppose I have an attached kharmic fortification in my province (Tunnel Network for example). Via the Rulebook Kharmic is defined as:
Fortifications are defined as:
So, is it fair to assume that since a Fortification is still in a province, if it's kharmic, I'm assuming I can use the rulebook action to kharmic it away?
I understand the reasoning behind why you can't kharmic away in-play personalities that got their kharmic trait from Yung Sensei for example, because in that case, that kharmic dynasty card is no longer in your provinces. But here with fortifications, it seems like it could work.
A: Fortifications are attached to their province, they are not in the province: Cards attached to a Province are not “in,” nor can be discarded “from,” that Province.
You cannot use the rulebook Kharmic ability and target a Fortification attached to a province. Alex Jones, "Kharmic Fortifications", 21 May 2015 - Q: Yung Sensei gives Kharmic to my personalities in and out of play. Is there a point to the ones in play having Kharmic? The Kharmic ability seems like it can only be used on cards in a province... so... am I missing something? I'm not being facetious, I just want to make sure I'm not cheating myself out of something awesome.
A: Well, you could say the "point" is consistency. Your cards with Kharmic printed on them have it while in and out of play, and so will Personalities affected by Yung Sensei.
Otherwise, no, you're not currently missing any combos or hidden applications of having Kharmic on a Personality in play. Brook Cunningham, "Yung Sensei and Kharmic cards in play", 4 Sep 2014
