Rules Q&A
- Q: I can't find a solid answer that points to any rules. It doesn't let you get the tokens twice, does it? Transfer doesn't imply equipping? I am thinking it doesn't work, because it would be so broken if it did, but since it would be so broken, it is worth checking into.
A: When a card is transfer'd, it attaches to the new Personality, but is not Equip'd. Alex Jones, "Reach Across the World + Stones of Purity", 4 Aug 2015 - Q: Just curious about the wording on Shugenja Aide:
Shugenja Aide: "This Personality, if he is a Shugenja, has +1C while actions on your Kihos and Spells are resolving."
Would Stones of Purity be affected by this at all? Or is the trait not considered an action?
Stones of Purity: "After you Equip this Spell, give this Shugenja a number of +1F Rock tokens equal to his Chi."
I know this was answered in regards to Enomoto earlier, but Shugenja Aide has slightly different wording. Thanks in advance!
A: Traits are not abilities: the +1C from Shugenja Aide's trait does not apply when Equiping Stones of Purity. Alex Jones, "Shugenja Aide + Stones of Purity", 10 Apr 2015 - Q: A) Enomoto has stats boost while he has a spell attached (from 3/2 to 4/4)
B) Some spells trigger on their wielder's stats when they are equipped.
How does it work ? I guess there are other spells with similar but not exactly likewise wording, and I take different wordings could end up in different results, so i am asking only about two specifics : Stones of Purity and Secrets on the wind. I have seens no other 20F legal spells (at that moment) that could need clarification
Both wordings are not exactly alike, but i *suppose* it will be the same result
Enomoto has +1F/+2C while he has a Spell (from a printed 2C) After you Equip this Spell, give it a number of tokens equal to this Shugenja's Chi After you Equip this Spell, give this Shugenja a number of +1F Rock tokens equal to his Chi
so, do these spells create 2, or 4 tokens, when attached to Enomoto (provided of course no other game effect modify his Chi)?

A: Once you've Equipped the spell, he has a spell. Any traits triggered "after" you Equip will take into account his stat changes, so you'll get 4 tokens per spell. Jon Palmer, "Enomoto + Stones of Purity (and other spells)", 23 Mar 2015 - Q: Hi!
I am playing Stones of Purity on Taruko. My buddy interrupts with Courage beyond Question. What happens?
a) The Force Bonus of the Tokens is negated, leaving me with a Fear 3 attack for 5 gold? b) The Force Bonus cannot be negated due to them being tokens? c) The Force Bonus is removed for *this round*?
Help!
With my best regards, Alex
A: Courage Beyond Question negates bonuses from "the action". Stones of Purity tokens come from the spell, not the Equip action itself, so Courage Beyond Question does nothing to their bonus. Jon Palmer, "Courage beyond Question vs. Stones of Purity", 27 Feb 2015 - Q: Hello, I was just wondering if I could combine the repeatable fear effect from Stones of Purity with itself. I think it should be possible, as the IE comprehensive rules says: "Combining starts with an original action that creates an attack effect from a card in a unit. As an Interrupt to that action, the player may use an ability from another card in the same unit that is appropriate to the phase and that creates another attack effect of the same kind. The player pays that ability’s costs, then resolves its action’s effects, with one change: instead of creating a separate attack effect, each of those actions’ relevant attack effects adds its own strength (with any modifications) to the strength of the original attack effect."
So, I resolve the battle action from Stones and as a part of that action I destroy the token to straighten the spell, then I take an interrupt to use the battle action again and then as an effect of this interrupt I can straighten the spell again and take additional interrputs as long as I have tokens to destroy.
Am I correct?
Stones of Purity: "Earth Jade Repeatable Battle, w: Fear 3. You may discard two Rock tokens from this Shugenja, or one if he is Earth, to straighten this Spell."
A: No, for two reasons.
Firstly, the rules for combining attacks (which you've quoted below), state that the combining attack must come from "another card".
Secondly, it wouldn't work because of the action procedure (p27 of the Comprehensive Rules): A. Announce B. Pay costs - this is where you bow the Stones of Purity (for the "original action"). C. Interrupts - this is where you'd want to use Stones of Purity's ability as an Interrupt, but you can't because it's bowed. D. Resolve effects - this is where you create the Fear effect, and optionally straighten Stones of Purity. E. Clean up - nothing to do here. Alex Jones, "Stones of Purity combined fear effect", 13 Oct 2014 - Q: If my opponent uses Jade works to bring a Stones of Purity into play, what amount do i need to pay to destroy Stones of purity with Your true nature?
Jade works : When paying for a Jade card, it enters play for 5 less Gold.
A: The cost of Stones of Purity is still 5g, which is what you must pay when playing Your True Nature. Alex Jones, "your true nature and reduction in cost", 13 Oct 2014
