Rules Q&A
- Q: Battle, Bow: Target two or more of your Personalities with Force penalties from the same source. Negate those penalties.
Do force penalties from poison tokens apply to this effect? if so would it have to be poison tokens created by a singular source?
A: They would have to be poison tokens created by the same use of the same ability (for instance, Nightshade Touch), but in that case yes, it will work. Jon Palmer, "Bountiful Fields and Tokens", 5 Mar 2015 - Q: Let's say I control two Personalities, Bob and Joe, in the same army. Each of them has a Poison token given by Shosuro Sadao. If I use Bountiful Fields targeting these two guys, will they lose the force penalty from the tokens? Does the answer depend on the number of Shosuro Sadao involved? (i.e. if it was the same copy or two different copies that gave them their respective tokens)
Shosuro Sadao Ninja Battle: Give a target enemy Personality a -1F/-1C Poison token. You may move Sadao home if the target was Lion Clan.
Bountiful Fields Battle, bow: Target two or more of your Personalities with Force penalties from the same source. Negate those penalties.
The rules about tokens say: This bonus or penalty is considered to come from the last effect that placed the token on the card or area.
A: Per the CR definition of "From", the Source is the card on which the effect, action or targeting is printed on. Therefore, if they each have a poison token from the same Shosuro Sadao, Bountiful Fields can negate them. If the tokens are from two separate copies of Shosuro Sadao, it cannot negate them. Jon Palmer, "Bountiful Fields vs. Shosuro Sadao", 14 Jun 2014 - Q: Battle : Target two or more of your Personalities with Force penalties from the same source. Negate those penalties.
Does "those penalties" mean "all the penalities on the targeted personnalities which are from the same source".
Example : on my oponent turn Kachiko is here and I play Flashy Technique. My opponent attacks with one personnality et plays Bountiful Fields' battle action : does the personality still have -1F (Bountiful negates only one penalty) or does he recover all his force ?
A: You can't take the action from Bountiful Fields if you only have one Personality in your army, since it requires you to target two or more Personalities.
However. Assuming your opponent attacks you with more than one Personality, one copy of Bountiful Fields will negate the Force penalties from just one shared source. Alex Jones, "Bountiful Fields", 2 Jun 2014 - Q: One more question: (We're playing with friends this weekend) Per comprehensive rules
Can this penalty be negated via Bountiful Fields?
The effect does not cease to apply, so my read is it can be negated?
A: Yes, BF can negate the Penalties on your targets from BH. Brook Cunningham, "Oracle of the Void #rules", 22 Aug 2026
