Rules Q&A
- Q: Hello there,
How does the trait of Yodo Sensei works with a multiple dishonoring action? Like "The company you keep" or the scorpion guy Kotomuri?
I don't know if you will gain more than 1 honor for each action regardless the amount of dishonored ppl your oponents get...
i.e.: If you play Bayushi Kotomuri and dishonor 2 Personalities of the other player, do you gain 1 Honor for Yodo trait or 2?
thanks in advance for your enlightment.
A: A trait is triggered by each occurence of its triggering effect: in this case by each occurence of dishonoring. If two Personalities are dishonored by one of your actions, the trait triggers twice.
In contrast, if the trait said, "After your action resolves which dishonoured another player's Personality..." the trigger would be the end of the action, not the dishonoring, which can only occur once per action.
However, note that Bayushi Kotomuri doesn't dishonour via an action, he dishonours via his Invest trait, so this dishonoring would not trigger Yodo Sensei: "When Invest appears on a non-Strategy card, its effects come from the Invest trait, not the action that brought the card into play." Alex Jones, "Yodo Sensei - Multiple dishonoring Actions", 23 Feb 2015 - Q: Hi,
I have Bayushi Kotomuri in one of my provinces. I wish to recruit him and I increase his cost with his invest ability, can I?
a) Bow Colonial Dojo to make him enter play for 0 gold cost, gaining his invest benefit. b) Bow Colonial Dojo to make hime enter play for 0 gold cost, and paying his invest cost additinaly to gain his invest ability. c) something else?
Does it work the same way if I use Cavalry Escort?
Thanks!
A: A) is the correct answer, you may use Colonial Dojo to pay both his base cost and Invest cost. The same is true when attaching Cavalry Escort - since it raises the Personality's cost by 5 and waives its own cost, Colonial Dojo will pay all related costs.
