Rules Q&A
- Q: Hi, Sorry to be posting this, but my opponent won't believe me on several issues unless it is ruled on.
1) Scenario - I produce a melee 3 targetting a 2F personality. I pass interrupts (melee 3) Opponent plays We Are Not Yet Beaten (melee 1) I want to play unholy strike. (to make it a melee 3)
Opponent claims I need to paly all my interrupts before he does. Am I correct in saying interrupts follow a normal action procedure and that priority will pass back and forth on interrupts until both players pass. Passing isn't opting out of further interrupts if priority is passed back to you?
2) VtD and granted traits for personalities who have the trait printed on them Opponent has a tactician with Aramasus Mask (which would grant tactician)
I VtD to remove tactician. opponent claims mask will "trigger" granting tactician to his personality. I dont' think it will as unless the state of the mask changes (is removed and reattached) then it won't revaluate. viewtopic.php?f=59&t=109749 is probably the relevant ruling.
Thanks in advance.
A: 1. Interrupt actions are taken in an Action Round: each player in turn order has the opportunity to take one action or pass, and the round finishes when all players pass consecutively.
2. Answered here. Alex Jones, "Interrupts", 25 Jun 2015 - Q: I tried to find a question like this but I failed, so I'll try the direct approach:
a) If a Personality with printed Tactician Keyword attaches Aramasu's Mask (which gives the Personality the Tactician Keyword), does he gain a second Tactician Keyword?
b) If so, does this enable him to use the Tactical Advantage Action twice, and why?
c) If he does not gain a second Tactician Keyword, does he lose the Tactician Keyword entirely, if it is removed by Victory of Deference or A Kensai's Art? If not, please care to explain why
Thanks in Advance!
A: Comprehensive Rules, Keywords: A card either has a given keyword or it does not. Effects that grant a keyword to a card that already has it do not give it an extra copy of the keyword, and do not protect that card against a future effect that would remove that keyword.
So: a) No, he does not gain a second copy of Tactician. b) No, he cannot use Tactical Advantage twice. c) He loses Tactician. Alex Jones, "Aramasu's Mask on prnited Tactician", 24 Jun 2015 - Q: So Aramasu gives a personality Tactician and then allows them to negate actions based on their discarded Tact Adv ability. Aranai reads that if they do not have the printed Tact trait they do not have Tact Adv. So my question is, does the sensei shut down the item's ability to grant someone the Tact Adv ability?
A: As long as they have 3C, yes, the trait on Aranai Sensei will prevent a Personality granted Tactician via Aramasu's Mask from using Tactical Advantage. Jon Palmer, "Aranai sensei + Aramasu's Mask", 15 Jul 2014 - Q: Aramasu's Mask refers to just negating an action, so could I use it to negate an interrupt played by my opponent during the interrupt step of resolving the Battle action assuming the interrupt is from an action on a Fate card? For instance if I have used Tactical Advantage with a 3 Focus Value card can I then negate The Turtle's Shell?
Relevant Text: Interrupt, (bow) : Negate an action from a Fate card with the same Focus Value as a card discarded by this Personality's Tactical Advantage action this turn.
A: Interrupt actions are not themselves interruptable. Aramasu's Mask cannot negate The Turtle's Shell. Alex Jones, "Aramasu's Mask and Interrupts", 2 Jun 2014
