Rulings
- Erratum: Reads, “Call of Thunder The next Unique Personality you bring into play this game permanently gains the traits, 'Can assign even if bowed,' and 'After this card assigns: You may straighten it.'” [MRP, Samurai Edition, 25 July 2007] Comprehensive Rules, Samurai Edition, with specific card rulings, final version, May 2009, p. 126
Rules Q&A
- Q: Are the effects of Call of Thunder, "ongoing effects" for the purpose of Shrine of the Sun?
(answer might be different, depending on whether the player has brought a Unique Personality since the Event resolved, or not)
A: Yes. Martin Lund, "Call of Thunder and Shrine of the Sun", 27 Mar 2005 - Q: If I copy a Unique Personality with The Egg of P'an Ku, does Call of Thunder trigger - ie does the Egg bring a personality into play? Or does it come into play as an action card, then silently turns into a personality without Call of Thunder noticing? Or does the Call of Thunder's effect fall under the egg's "no entering-play effects are produced" restriction (I don't think so - this restriction should apply to the copied card only, not to other cards watching out for changes in the game's state)?

Unique
Limited: Target a Personality, including a Unique Personality or one who will not join you. After entering play, this card becomes a copy of that Personality's printed card plus all permanent changes in effect on it. None of the Personality's costs need to be paid and no entering-play effects are produced.

Event
The next Unique Personality you bring into play this game permanently gains the traits "May assign even if bowed. After each time this card assigns, you may straighten it."
A: You don't bring a Personality into play. You bring a card into play that is not a Personality. After it enters play, the card becomes a Personality. That's not the same thing as bringing a Personality into play. Martin Lund, "Egg of P'an Ku & Call of Thunder", 26 Mar 2005
