• Q: Are actions that are "Battle/Engage" considered both Battle actions and Engage actions no matter when played?
  For example, I attempt to play Open Roads as a battle action. Can my opponent negate it with Kaiu-Built Defenses?

  A: No.
  See Abilities: An ability with two designators, such as “Battle/Open:”, can be used at either time. • Q: A few obscure rule questions:
  1) Does a weapon provide a force bonus or something else? How would Hida Saiyuki's trait interact with him being given a weapon, under the same rule how would weapon equipped personalities be affected by effects that negate bonuses and penalties? This one has been answered elsewhere
  2) Can actions from fortifications be used during battles at other provinces? Example I have a Kaiu-Built Defenses on one of my provinces, can I use it's ranged attack while attacking my opponent's province? During battles at my other provinces?
  3) Which units do ranged/melee/fear actions come from if they're from a strategy? I'm asking this because I'm wondering how they can be combined with other attacks from a unit. Does it make a difference if the strategy requires you bowing a personality/follower or weapon? (examples: Fearful Volley, the Fear attack for the 1st situation and the ranged attack for the 2nd)

  2. As per Fortification: During a battle, abilities on a Fortification can only be used if the Fortification is attached to the current battlefield’s Province.
  3. Actions which come from a Strategy... come from that Strategy! They don't come from any cards they target, and so cannot be combined. See From. Alex Jones, "A few obscure rule questions", 12 May 2015
• Q: If I Engage with Besieged Fortifications, would my opponent have the chance to counter it with Kaiu Built Defences?
  Besieged Fortifications Fortifications at this Province give no bonuses and their abilities may not be used. Defending Personalities have -1F. Battle/Engage: Destroy a Terrain (if able). Put this Terrain into play.

  I am just unsure as to whether the terrains trait come into play before or after the Interrupt window.
