Rules Q&A
- Q: Based on the slight difference in wording between these 2 cards(text below) I wanted to ask a quick clarification.
Akodo Dairuko: After you destroy an enemy card during battle (including resolution), gain 1 Honor.
Ichigo Sensei: After an enemy card is destroyed during a battle, if the destruction was not from another player's card effect, gain 1 Honor.
1)Based on the difference in wording of these 2, Ichigo sensei would gain honor for cards destroyed by the rulebook effect correct?
Aka opponent's personality has 2 follower attachments, you Come on at a time them and win.
With Dairuko you would gain 1 honor for the 1 card you destroyed, however with Ichigo Sensei you would gain 1 honor 3 times(1 for the card you destroyed, and 1 each for the followers destroyed by the rule book effect)
2) If your opponent killed their own personality in a battle(same situation 2 followers) or say you won their come on at a time duel. Dairuko would award you 1 honor for destroying the personality card(or none if they destroyed their own personality), while Ichigo sensei would award you 1 honor twice(1 for each follower, but would not award you honor for the personality as they were killed by another players card effect)
Thanks
A: Your statements are correct.
When a card effect destroys a Personality (eg via a duel, or with Zlkyt's Family + Okura is Released) rather than a unit (eg with Thoughtless Sacrifice), the attachments are destroyed by the rulebook. Thus, Ichigo Sensei's trait will give you honour for the attachments, but Akodo Dairuko's trait will not. Just to clarify: an army with a Dishonoured personality that wins or ties a battle would still gain one honour per card destroyed thanks to the Sensei's trait, correct?
Thanks!
A: Yes, you will gain the honour. Alex Jones, "Ichigo Sensei and rehonoring", 22 Jul 2015 - Q: Hi,
I'm playing Ichigo sensei and I'm winning (or tying) a battle with a dishonored personality in my army, what happens in resolution? Is Ichigo able to rehonor my personality? The rules only state that personality rehonoring substitute to gaining honor in resolution, without further precisions about the source of this honor gain (rules, or any card).
If Ichigo can rehonor personalites, are the timing of the honor gain from Ichigo and from the rulebook the same? If they're not, which one happens first?
Thanks!
A: Ichigo Sensei will not rehonour Personalities.
When the Rehonouring rules uses the phrase "gains Honor from destroying enemy cards in battle resolution", this refers purely to the honour gain from the rulebook, not to Honour gains from other sources triggered by destroying cards.
I'll see about clarifying this section. Alex Jones, "Ichigo Sensei and rehonoring", 22 Jul 2015 - Q: If I have Ichigo Sensei and Akodo Dairuko, and I destroy a province with a fortification attached (but no defenders) do I gain any honor? If so, how much (and which cards trigger the gain?)
A: Both Ichigo Sensei and Akodo Dairuko exp2 gain you honour for destroying enemy cards, but Fortifications are not cards in units and so are not enemy cards. Alex Jones, "Ichigo Sensei/Akodo Dairuko + Fortifications", 21 Jul 2015
