Rules Q&A
- Q: Hi,
During our games Bayushi Kachiko, Seven Thunder • Experienced 2CW got targeted by Akodo Raikitsu
Kachiko's action mentions that "Kachiko may remained bowed", and 20F rules state that "It means that a card’s controller may choose to prevent its straightening before each time it straightens."
Does that mean that Kachiko's controller can choose to keep her bowed even when an opponent's action tries to straighten her?
A: Yes. Alex Jones, "Kachiko straightened by another player's action", 11 Sep 2015 - Q: So this guy, as well as the Seven Thunder Personalities are legal for standard play. My question is this:
If I have THR in play, and my opponent flips a Loyal Seven Thunder (Let's say Bayushi Kachiko, Seven Thunder, EXP CW), can I recruit her using THR's ability? According to the comprehensive rules: "A Personality with the Loyal keyword will not be controlled by a player who does not share a Clan Alignment with the Personality. This restricts entering play as well as changing control" But since cards override the rules, and THR specifically allows me to recruit the personality, and the recruit action brings people into play...I'm thinking maybe I could do it?
A: No, sorry, you can't.
Cards need to specifically override rules in order to actually do so.
If the Hooded Ronin allowed such Recruiting as you describe, he would say, "you may Recruit them [ignoring restrictions]." Brook Cunningham, "The Hooded Ronin, Descendant of Shinsei EXP CW", 9 Aug 2015 - Q: Bayushi Kachiko, Seven Thunder

So the bolded part requires the target to be shadowlands, is that a consideration for all 3 clauses for her ability?
1.) So the target when assigning, do they have to have the shadowlands keyword to get the token? 2.) Likewise, at the start of the target's turn, will they have to have the shadowlands keyword to get a token? 3.) Or is only on the Kachiko player's turn, that they will have to have the keyword in order to get a token?
A: No, it is not.
Kachiko has 3 independent triggers. Only the third requires the target to be Shadowlands to trigger. Your example #3 is correct. Jon Palmer, "Bayushi Kachiko CW", 7 Jul 2015
