Rules Q&A
- Q: - My opponent has Agasha Chieh with Kuro's Fire in play, as well as a Ring of Air ; he casts KF, i react with Flee ; can he straighten Chieh with the Ring of Air ?
A: Chieh is still bowing to pay the cost of casting the Spell, so he can straighten Chieh with the Ring. All the Ring cares about is why she bowed, not that she was successful. Martin Lund, "Rules for 28 June 2004", 30 Jun 2004 - Q: Just trying to understand the implications/uses of Agasha Chieh's ability, which reads:
"Phoenix Clan Shugenja . Magistrate Chieh is also considered a member of every family that has members in your Faction."
Does anyone use her ability? And if so, what for?
A: It's fairly minor, as there are few cards in the Diamond environment that care about family name. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 9-10 March 2004", 11 Mar 2004 - Q: 2) Only Agasha Chieh is considered in the battle (but not actually in the battle), not any of her attached cards.
A: That's what her card says. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 2-3 March 2004", 4 Mar 2004 - Q: If I play Agasha Chieh out of the Noble Halls stronghold, can she attach other clans' ancestors as if she was a Lion shugenja?
A: No. Being a member of a family (i.e., Matsu, Ikoma, etc.) is not a requirement for attaching Ancestors (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 29-30). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 16 September 2003, Part 2", 17 Sep 2003 - Q: Agasha Chieh is still just a Phoenix clan Magstrate/Shugenja, no matter how many families she has the psuedo-name to, right?
A: Right. Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 September 2002", 28 Sep 2002 - Q: Suzume Sensei makes all my Suzume Personalities part of my faction.
Does that mean Agasha Chieh is automatically part of my faction if I play with Suzume Sensei?
A: No. Family affiliation is based on the printed card base. Jeff Alexander, "post for 23 September 2002", 25 Sep 2002 - Q: If she is considered to be a member of my faction's family, can she use a non-Phoenix Sword and get all the goddies?
A: No. Family and Faction are not the same thing. Chieh's trait is a minor one: what it means is that, in a Phoenix deck, she effectively has the titles
Agasha Chieh, Asako Chieh, Isawa Chieh, Naka Chieh, and Shiba Chieh
all at once.
In other Clan's decks, she'll have different names. Jeff Alexander, "post for 20 September 2002", 21 Sep 2002 - Q: 13.Agasha Chieh
how does her ability work? can any clan buy her as a member of their faction? or is it only there for cards like family tactics, agasha join the pheonix, F(sp) Seido region?
A: It's only there for cards like Family Tactics, etc. Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 August 2002", 27 Aug 2002 - Q: Agasha Chieh Would be a Doji if joining Dragon?
A: Yes, due to Doji Reju. Jeff Alexander, "post for 21 August 2002", 22 Aug 2002 - Q: Agasha Chieh Would be a Doji if joining Dragon?
A: Yes, due to Doji Reju. Jeff Alexander, "post for 14 August 2002", 15 Aug 2002
