Rules Q&A
- Q: If Asahina Kimita has a Chime of Harmony attached, and casts Asahina's Breath on herself, does she have
a) 11 Chi or b) 14 Chi
during the subsequent challenge?
A: 14. The duel is not the very first thing to happen during the Spell's effects, so the +3C bonus would apply before Kimita adds her Chi to itself. Jeff Alexander, "post for 24 July 2002", 25 Jul 2002 - Q: Chime of Harmony: "The Chime of Harmony gains +3C while this Personality attaches Spells, creates Spell effects, and uses innate abilities."
Let's say I put this on Mirumoto Tsuge: "Once per turn, after Tsuge issues a challenge, draw a card."
I issue a challenge and draw a card, at which time Mirumoto Tsuge gets a +3 Chi. However, since this is only "while this Personality ... uses innate abilities", will he still have the +3 Chi in the duel itself, or only while I am drawing a card?
A: Only while drawing the card. Enjoy your short-lived bonus. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 January 2002", 30 Jan 2002 - Q: If I have a shugenja who has the chime of Harmony attatched, and I have him or her cast The Fury of Osano-Wo in battle, will the Chime of Harmony add to the shugenja's chi for the purpose of this spell, thus making the ranged attack stronger?
A: Yup. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for July 18th", 18 Jul 2001
