Rules Q&A
- Q: can Yasuki's smile interrupt Overwhelmed?
A: Yes, I saw the other question. I'm looking into it. Overwhelmed is an odd duck, as you know.
Ok, so, this is a fun one. Yes, it can. However, "If the action would destroy this Personality" is a requirement of announcing the Interrupt, so he must be your highest Force guy at the time you announce it, so that choosing to not move guys home will definitely kill him. Also, you are then locked into not choosing to move guys home due to the Rules regarding Choice Paradoxes. And finally, should circumstances beyond your control change after you take the Smile Interrupt, and for whatever reason, a different one of your guys is who will be destroyed by Overwhelmed, the Smile substitution will not happen and save the other guy. I hope you followed all that? Brook Cunningham, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 18 Dec 2025 - Q: I forget...
If I copy an ability onto a target and it happens to read "tactical ability" but the target doesn't have tactician, can they use or not the copied ability? Also, can Yasuki's smile interrupt Overwhelmed?
A: Any Tactical ability not printed on a Tactician itself must implicitly target your unbowed Tactician to use it, like Banish All Doubt for example. So, very technically, you could use such a copied ability, but you'd have to additionally target one of your own actual Tacticians to use it, who would then thereby use up his one Tactical for the turn.
