Rules Q&A
- Q: [ShE] Are focus effects considered battle actions for the -1 to honor gains from Kisada's funeral?
A: They are not "non-Battle actions" because they are not actions at all, so they are not affected. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 9 Jul 2025 - Q: [ShE] If my opponent has Kisada's Funeral in play, can I put in play mu own copy of Kisada's Funeral? My doubt comes due to the card being Unique
A: Yes, you can. I think it was Samurai Edition or perhaps even Lotus, where they changed the "Unique" Rule to only apply to your own cards/deck, not globally to the whole board.
(Replying to a player: "Great! So that would mean that, in principle, both would have our honor gains ands our provinces' strength reduced by 2, right?") Well, to a minimum of 1 on the gains, but yes, the effects would be cumulative. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 25 Mar 2025 - Q: What's the interaction between the ShE Scorpion SH (reduce all honor gains from proclaming by 1) and Kisada's Funeral (reduce honor gains from non-Battle actions by 1 to a minimum of 1)? What happens if my opponents proclaims a 2PH personality? Do they gain 1 or 0 honor? I assume it's 1
A: Right. Penalties with a minimum are applied last and aren't applied if they'll reduce the thing below that minimum. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 9 Jun 2024 - Q: Phoneposting, so can't see Hiroyuki's card. That being said, if the +1 is from his trait, then it does not check for rings as an action, therefore is consistent with the ruling on Kisada's Funeral
A: Yeah, I'm sorry you feel it's confusing or arbitrary, but it pretty much boils down to "does the text within the action itself say Ring"? If yes, the Holding counts as one. Otherwise, no. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 20 Apr 2024 - Q: I am double checking this . Does [Shinsei's Heart] counting as a ring for [Kisada's Funeral] cause it is meanwhile action?
A: No. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 20 Apr 2024 - Q: Kisadas Funeral, is it reducing ONLY "non-battle " ACTIONS, or any honor gain that isn't a battle action? because it says " reduce any honor gains from non-battle actions" which honestly could be ruled either way...
A: Trusting your transcription of the text because I don't want to look it up separately, yes, it only reduces gains from actions that are non-battle.
So, if you are asking, "their Honor gains from what?" What is the answer to "what"? "non-Battle actions". Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 20 Jan 2024
