Rules Q&A
- Q: I'm a bit unclear as to when it is legal to use Chuda Eiichi ability.
Maho Battle: Even if Eiichi is not at this battlefield, bow him: Bow a target Personality with lower Chi and permanently give him Shadowlands
Am I able to declare an attack and send some of my units to province A while Chuda Eiichi hangs out at home, then start the battle at province B, where I have no units, and use his ability to bow someone at province A?
Thanks!
A: The target you wish to bow is still subject to the rule of Location. Chris Fuchs, "Chuda Eiichi", 13 Aug 2007 - Q: Hello.

It waives the requirement for Relevance. (Corrected.)
Where it does say that?
It only says that he doesnt need to be at the current battlefield.
He still has to target or affect a card in the current battlefield or be in the current battlefield to target someone at home, etc.
Also, you may want to edit this one: viewtopic.php?t=57510
I guess that you fixed the other one b/c the action steel needs presence.
Since "Even if Eiichi is not at this battlefield" is not "even if you have no units in the current battlefield"
You need goblin wizard(for example) in the battlefield to then use Eiichi's action. And the target must be in the current battlefield.
Then you meet presence and relevance.
It seems that the wording is b/c relevance will be simplified to "only card in the battle can perform actions" or something like that.
Thanks for your time.
A: Actually, to be real precise, these cards ignore the Rule of Location. Which doesn't exist yet.
So really, don't fret about these until Samurai Edition releases. Zen Faulkes, "Chuda Eiichi", 28 May 2007 - Q: So according to this: viewtopic.php?t=57513
Chuda Eiichi could, whilst at home, target and bow a card not at the current battlefield, since he ignores relevance. So he could even target someone at home?
And Daigotsu Hidetsugu could, from home or any other battle, target a card in the current battle and bow or straighten it if it were Shadowlands?

So really, don't fret about these until Samurai Edition releases. Zen Faulkes, "Chuda Eiichi and Daigotsu Hidetsugu follow-up", 28 May 2007 - Q: The wording on these two cards has me a bit puzzled, for reference, here they are:
and
Now the wording on Chuda Eiichi seems to say that he works differently than normal for relevance/presence, implying that either
1) The rules for Presence and Relevance are changing in Samurai
2) He can target units at battlfields other than the current battlefield
3) He can target the current battlefield even if you have no presence already there
4) It's just awkward wording
Otherwise he has a chunk of text that is simply unnecessary, since, as I understand it, the current Relevance and Presence rules would allow Hidetsugu to target and bow/straighten cards in the current battle from home or another battlefield as long as you have a unit at the current battle. Really, I guess I'm just asking for some clarification if Eiichi has some sort of ability to target outside the bounds of normal presence and relevance, or if I'm getting something backwards in there.
A: Chuda Eiichi's text waives the requirement for Presence. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu Hidetsugu and Chuda Eiichi", 27 May 2007 - Q: The phrase, "Even if Eiichi is not at this battlefield," leads me to believe that he is ignoring the rule of presence as this action would always be relevent when targeting a card in the battle. On the other hand, perhaps it means that he can target someone outside of the battle regardless of his own location, as if he was a card there.
