Rules Q&A
- Q: I had Chuda Fukuzo xp out in play and a Kakita Noritoshi xp3 in my discard pile. I decided to remove Noritoshi with Fukuzo's Open ability to copy duelist and Noritoshi's ability. (W)ould I (with Fukuzo xp) even be able to perform Noritoshi xp3's Iaijutsu Battle ability based on the challange originating from Noritoshi?
A: Yes, because references to Noritoshi in the ability's text are replaced with references to Fukuso.
http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_C#Copying_abilities:
"References to a source card's own title in the source ability become references, in the copied ability, to the title of the copied ability's own card.
"Example: If Bayushi Ni copies the ability 'Bow San: Ranged 4 Attack' from Yoritomo San, the ability on him is 'Bow Ni: Ranged 4 Attack.'" Zen Faulkes, "Chuda Fukuzo xp and Copying "Flavor" Abilities", 30 Dec 2011
