Rules Q&A
- Q: In ShE rules, if two traits, one from each player, have the same trigger, which trigger happens first? Dark Ring of Air - Tao of Kokujin vs. The False Shikei... also because Ishiken wants to gloat... Togashi's Daishyo is also in play.
A: Active player decides. Brook Cunningham, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 14 Feb 2026 - Q: Hi, after dark ring of air bows my Higaru, my False Shikei straightens. My opponent says he can use his Tao of Kokujin as a response to discarding dark ring to bow Shikei after he straightens. It seems very clear to me that the response has to occur before the discard step (and Shikei straightens at the discard step) so my opponent cannot respond to bow False Shikei after he straightens from discard of dark ring. Please let me know if I am correct?
A: Dark Ring of Air isn't discarded at the discard step; it discards itself earlier as part of its own effects.
The discard step F is mainly/exclusively a cleanup step for resolved Strategies. Brook Cunningham, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 4 Nov 2024
