Rules Q&A
- Q: In reference to: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=98437&p
This post was never officially answered, though I was in a conversation where a member of the rules team was called on the phone and he had an interesting interpretation.
From what I overheard, the precedent set by a card some time ago indicated that the sacrificed person died...and then had his gold cost checked. Therefore the Coin Pouch would be gone and you are limited to the base gold cost of the person you sac'd. If this is the case please confirm, or reverse that ruling so that my Death Priests and Thunder Shugenja can summon bigger Onis please.
Coin Pouch: This Personality has +2 Gold Cost
I Give You My Name: Limited: Bow this Shugenja and destroy your target Human Personality: Search your Dynasty deck or discard pile for a non-Unique Oni with Gold Cost lower than or equal to the Human's Gold Cost plus the performer's Chi. Put the Oni into play, ignoring Gold cost. Lose 2 Honor.
A: That is correct. The gold cost check happens at the time that I Give You My Name says it happens; after the Personality has been destroyed, and the Coin Pouch is no longer attached. As much a Coin Pouch helps in summoning Onis in real life, it won't help your Death Priests or Thunder Shugenja. Jon Palmer, "Coin Pouch + I give you my name", 17 Jul 2012
