Rules Q&A
- Q: Is Asako Shino really non-unique even if Experienced? 🙂
A: Yes, back around the Ivory expansions, it was something done to reduce the amount of “pack waste” (opening your 4th copy of the same Unique).
From a continuing Design perspective, we no longer have packs to worry about, but we still want to make new XP versions of characters and not every iteration is so,powerful as to be gated as Unique. Unique is reserved for what we consider to be “game-shifting” effects generally. Jeff Williamson, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 20 Oct 2026
