- Your Personalities with 3 or higher Personal Honor have Paragon.
You may not use the Cavalry rulebook ability. When you attack, there is a second Maneuvers Segment during which only Personalities in Cavalry units may assign. They may not assign to empty battlefields unless the Defender assigned no Personalities. - Legality

Rules Q&A
- Q: [ShE] Kimiono sensei: If the attacker has this sensei and 4 cav units with 10F each, then he assigns two of them to different provinces during the infantry maneuvers of his attack, and the defender only blocks with one unit. Then there is a second cav maneuvers segment. The attacker can assign his two unassigned units to either of the battlefields, but can he 'reassign' the units that were already assigned during the infantry maneuvers segment?
A: is correct above. Reason being, assigning is defined as "from home to a battlefield". Brook Cunningham, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 8 Feb 2026 - Q: [ShE] Kimiono Sensei: Apologies if I missed any discussion about this card over the last few weeks, I cannot seem to find anything in search about it. My question is: How exactly does this work? If I have the sensei and I attack, there is a second maneuvers segment... but does the defender also get the benefit of this cavalry maneuvers segment? So if I assign no infantry and the defender assigns one unit during the first 'infantry' maneuvers segment, can I the attacker then assign any number of my cav units to attack the province with the defending unit in the cav maneuvers segment? Does the defender then get to assign any number of their cav units to the same province? Or does the defender not get the opportunity to make use of the cav maneuvers segment? And does the defender assign their cav units after the attacker does so? In which case how does the limitation on 'if the defender assigned no personalities" work? If there were no defending infantry units then would the attacker get to assign to empty provinces but the defender cannot?
A: 1. Yes, 2. Yes, 3. Yes, 4. Both players assign during both Maneuvers; no Maneuvers belongs exclusively to one player, 5. Yes, just like a regular Maneuvers, Attacker then Defender assign, there are just added restrictions on which units may be assigned where, 6. If the Defender assigned no one in first Maneuvers, the Attacker could assign Cav units anywhere in the second, 7. If the Defender didn't assign anyone during the first Maneuvers, they would also have no restrictions about assigning to empty battlefields in the second Maneuvers, just like the Attacker as described in answer #6.
Edit: Sorry, just realized my numbering system ignores the first question sentence, "How does this work?" and starts with the next.
(Replying to a player: "Wait, if I am the defender I cannot use the Onyx cavalry or I can use both types?") Yes, the player not using the Sensei has access to the Cav Rulebook ability as usual, and they can Assign twice on Defense due to the Sensei against the player using it (if they have Cav units). It only takes away its own player's Cav Rulebook ability. Brook Cunningham, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 31 Dec 2025
