- Erratum: A Dragon retreived with her ability is placed in the Province face-up. [Erratum, JA, 15 December 2004] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 88
- If a Province is refilled face-up with Miyoshi (e.g., Agasha Seruma), she cannot use her ability because she was not turned face up "in the Province." [ZF, web, 2 February 2005] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 89
Rules Q&A
- Q: I want to ask about Personalities like Shosuro Mikado, Utaku Jamaira, Agasha Miyoshi, and other with similar traits like "Costs X less Gold if ..."
Normally, traits do not apply if the card where the trait is written are not in play. But this Personalities gets the Cost reduction because of "obvious legality rule". Is it true?
A: It isn't a matter of Obvious Legality. It has been clarified / errata'd directly:
"While traits of a card are always active, even while the card is not in play, the traits of a card that is not in play do not affect anything except that card itself. [Dawn of the Empire rulesheet erratum, JA, 8 November 2004]" (Accumulated Rulings, "Traits") Martin Lund, "Rules for 15 December 2004", 22 Dec 2004 - Q: 1.- I have a Fire Dragon in play, and a Agasha Miyoshi face-up in the Province. Could I pay 3 Gold to hire Agasha Miyoshi (without gaining Honor) and bring her into play?
A: Assuming you a Phoenix player, sure. That's the whole point of her trait. Martin Lund, "Rules for 15 December 2004", 22 Dec 2004 - Q: Card: Void Dragon. Unaligned Creature - Shugenja - Cavalry - Unique
- Counts as a Dragon for Tengoku Acolytes (will only attach to Dragons)?
- Counts as a Dragon for Agasha Miyoshi (Costs 2 less gold if you control a Dragon, may discard her out of a province to refill it with a Dragon personality)?
A: Yes. It is a Dragon card, as per the Keyword Rule. Martin Lund, "More on Keywords vs Traits", 11 Apr 2005 - Q: If I buy Agasha Seruma, and the card that is replaced faced up is Agasha Miyoshi, can I use her reaction to search for a Dragon creature?
A: No. The card is turned face up, but not "in your Province," which is also part of Miyoshi's text. (Fixed.) Zen Faulkes, "Miyoshi", 9 Apr 2005 - Q: Mirumoto can overlay and "Dragon Clan Samurai".
Can Mirumoto overlay Gukochi? (Dragon Clan Sentry. Samurai.) Similarly, can Isawa overlay Agasha Miyoshi (Phoenix Clan Fire Shugenja)?
A: Yes and yes. Zen Faulkes, "Traits: X Clan Samurai", 25 Mar 2005 - Q: When using an effect such as Agasha Seruma's, which refills a Province face-up, is the card used to refill the Province considered to be turned face-up? This is notably relevant for Agasha Miyoshi, who must be turned face-up in your Province in order to trigger her "search for a Dragon" reaction.
A: The card is turned face up, but not "in your Province," which is also part of Miyoshi's text.
