Rules Q&A
- Q: What about a shugenja [we'll use Agasha Seruma] with Fires From Within and the IHG attached. May she cast a FFW, straighten with the IHG, and cast it again, combining the attacks?
A: You hit the same problem as in the previous example. Martin Lund, "Rules for 19 October 2004", 24 Oct 2004 - Q: When a 0-Chi Agasha Seruma enters play from a province, can she use her reaction before the Chi death hits her?
A: No. The Rulebook's Effect of killing someone at 0 Chi happens before you can use Seruma's Reaction. It is at the speed of a Trait, which is faster than the speed of a Reaction. (Accumulated Rulings, "Timing") Martin Lund, "Rules for 8 September 2004", 10 Sep 2004 - Q: I thought this up, and am having some trouble with it. I have Agasha Seruma cast Heart of Bushido on Shiba Tsukimi, giving Tsukimi +1/+1, and Tactician. My opponent later draws Ryoshun's Gift and destroys the Heart of Bushido. Would the Spell's effects end?
A: Destroying the source of the Action will not automatically stop the Action itself. Once you've cast the spell, all the text after the word "Limited" is in effect regardless of the status of the Spell Card itself. Martin Lund, "Rules for 17 June 2004", 21 Jun 2004 - Q: If I have a Summon Earth Kami attached to an Agasha Seruma, and have already bowed her to cast it this turn, is Asako Shiwasu prevented from casting the spell, as if it was attached to her?
A: She is prevented from casting Summon Earth Kami again since you've already used the Action and the Action specifies that it is "Once per turn." It doesn't matter who is casting the Spell, it can only have its Action successfully played once in a given turn. Martin Lund, "Rules for 18 May 2004", 20 May 2004 - Q: My follow-on question is on what keeps a theoretically infinite RA from being declared as the last RA from Kuro's. Because we now know that the upper bound of KF is violatable, what keeps Agasha Seruma with Kuro's Fire from killing Hida Kuon by declaring a RA10, letting it resolve, then end the KF effect by having gone over the limit?
A: If nothing known is going to reduce it into a legal range, you can't declare it that big to begin with. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 8 March 2004", 9 Mar 2004 - Q: Hello everybody,
Got a couple of questions:
I have an Agasha Seruma in play, use Chuda Agent to drop her Chi to zero. She goes to the discard pile. I now use MGC to put her back onto my Shrine of Humilty. What happens if I bring her out?
1) What triggers first? Her Reaction, the Chi death or the bowing of Shrine of Humility?
A: She enters play bowed, then dies. She can't use her Reaction. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 25 Feb. 2004", 26 Feb 2004 - Q: Hi there,
So planning on playing some Kolat Edition tournaments and I was wondering:
Is it legal to use (for example) 3x Agasha Seruma from Diamond Edition instead of 3x Agasha Ryo proxies from Kolat Edition?
Thanks!
Javier
A: Yes, indeed.
All Personalities named in "Soul of" keywords on EE/KE Personalities are legal proxies for those Personalities, and the proxy is played as if all its text matches the EE/KE card, even if the printed text varies. Brook Cunningham, ""Soul of..." Personalities", 13 Jan 2012 - Q: If I buy Agasha Seruma, and the card that is replaced faced up is Agasha Miyoshi, can I use her reaction to search for a Dragon creature?
A: No. The card is turned face up, but not "in your Province," which is also part of Miyoshi's text. (Fixed.) Zen Faulkes, "Miyoshi", 9 Apr 2005
