Rules Q&A
- Q: Greetings!
Curious. The Rulings Archive states Crab Tattoo as an example of an action which Togashi Genshuo/Hitomi Juppun may not gain Force bonuses from. But it's not an action that gives him the bonus; it's assignment/location.
A: Wrong. That's when the bonus begins. It was still given to him by the Action card. Mechanically, there's no difference in the source of a bonus from a card that says "give someone +1F right now" and "give someone +1F at the start of your next turn," for example. Jeff Alexander, "post for 10 May 2002", 15 May 2002 - Q: Here is a stumper (I think):
A. Crab Tattoo Question
1. Crab Tattoo says "Limited: Target one of your personalities with the Tattooed trait and without a Crab Tattoo. For the rest of the game, the personality has a Crab Tattoo and gains +4F while in a defending army."
2. Togashi Genshuo has the trait "Genshuo cannot gain force bonuses from actions."
3. The Archives say that when a personality gains a tattoo, he/she does not gain the "(keyword) tattoo" TRAIT.
I read from the above that the personality would NOT gain the Crab Tattoo text as a trait, and therefore Genshuo would not be able to gain +4F from having a Crab Tattoo.
A: I would agree with that assessment. Jeff Alexander, "post for 2 May 2002", 3 May 2002 - Q: 4) Crab Tattoo. "For the rest of the game ... and gains +4 while in a defensive army." Do I destroy a Tattoo token when he is assigned, to gain an additional +2, for the duration of being in a defensive army?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "replies to 28-30 June", 5 Jul 2001
