Rules Q&A
- Q: I have searched and not found a solid answer. Can a Maws Grave player play Cursed Gift? I am willing to believe yes, since the loss is an effect, not a cost, therefore it is still playable, but the deck is going to Kotei in two days and I want to be absolutely certain. So please, Yes/No.
A: Not only can a Maw's Grave player play it, but a Spider's Lair or Ruined City player can play it too.
The Honor Loss is an effect. Having an effect fail doesn't mean the action is illegal. Martin Lund, "Cursed Gift", 7 Mar 2008 - Q: A player who cannot lose Honor cannot pay the cost “Lose 2 Honor.”
Read that in the SE Rules, and have read all the posts about the Spider's Lair. I realize this question has been asked several times already, so please don't be angry, and simply ignore this post if you can't answer it. If you can answer my question, could you possibly sticky it, since everyone probably wants to know?
Anyway, it seems by the current wording the cost of losing honor on a Fate card cannot be paid by the Spider's Lair. Yet, this seems rather counterintuitive as cards like Cursed Gift seem intended for the Spider Clan. Is there a definitive ruling on this? If not, when can players expect one? I guess when the set finally releases at the end of July?
Thank you for your time and your patience, I (and everyone else should) really appreciate it.

If you "do not" lose honor, you can still pay costs involving an honor loss. Zen Faulkes, "Paying Costs", 30 Jun 2007
