- Erratum: Reads, "Cut Them Off 0G 3FV Reaction: After an action resolves that moved any units to a battlefield, target one of your Personalities there: Bow one target unit that moved; if your Personality is not Cavalry, the target unit’s Personality must have lower Chi than yours." Rules Q&A
- Q: Just want to make sure this is legal.
A: Short answer: Yes, it is. Brook Cunningham, "The Moto Feint and Cut Them Off", 29 Mar 2009 - Q: A player performs an action to move his personality into the current battlefield where I have no units. Can I play The Moto Feint to move my personality in and then play Cut Them Off on the opponent's personality?
A: Long answer: But you can't do it that quickly.
The Moto Feint reacts to an enemy Personality moving. And of course, your opponent gets the first opportunity to react to his own guy moving (if he has any) and then you can play TMF. And then, you both can take any more Reactions to further effects that happen within and during the original action that moved your opponent's guy (like YOUR guy moving, for instance).
Now, Cut Them Off doesn't trigger until your opponent's action finishes resolving (ends). Then, you can play it. Brook Cunningham, "The Moto Feint and Cut Them Off", 29 Mar 2009 - Q: Regarding this topic:
Cut Them Off reacts after the whole action resolves, so it would be after the straightening of the unit because of Ikoma Yasuko's ability, right?
A: Cut Them Off: Reaction: After an action resolves that moved any units to a battlefield, target one of your Personalities there: Bow one target unit that moved; if your Personality is not Cavalry, the target unit’s Personality must have lower Chi than yours.
Yasuko's Action resolves completely, including straightening the unit, before Cut Them Off is played. Alex Jones, "Cut them off and Ikoma Yasuko", 18 Nov 2008 - Q: So if I'm reading this right: http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=59770
1) Suppose I'm the Unicorn defender. The active Scorpion player moves Bayushi Muhito into a battle opposing my Unicorn personality. Active player reacts and says "I choose to take an additional action" (this is a delayed effect) I (Unicorn player) play Cut Them Off to bow Muhito. Scorpion player then takes his additional action. Bayushi Muhito Reaction: After an action resolves that moved Muhito to or from a battlefield: Take an additional Battle action. Is this correct?
A: Yes. You have to wait until someone would normally be given the priority to take a Battle Action before any "additional battle actions" can be taken. That means the previous Battle Action and its Reactions have to all be dealt with first. Martin Lund, "Cut Them Off, additional action follow-ups...", 31 Jul 2007 - Q: 2) Suppose my opponent moves Fusami into a battle opposing me and I play Cut Them Off. Does Fusami get to issue her challenge?
A: You can't play Cut Them Off until Fusami's Reaction has finished Resolving. That means not only the movement portion of its effects, but also the Challenge. Cut Them Off says, "After an action resolves that moved ..." Someone's going to get dueled long before you can play Cut Them Off. Martin Lund, "Cut Them Off, additional action follow-ups...", 31 Jul 2007
