Rules Q&A
- Q: Hi,
Have a situation:
My oponent wants battle, after asigned he as the activ player has oportunity to plar reaction. He play sneak attack - Reaction: After engaging: The Attacker has the first opportunity to take a Battle action or pass in this battle.
I than play the reaction of my personality on this battelfield which is Daidoji Yuki • Experienced and his reaction : Recon Reaction: After engaging at Yuki's battlefield, if all your Personalities there are Scouts: You have Reconnaissance there. You have the first opportunity in this battle to take a Battle action or pass.
Who has the first battle action? I think that the player who control Daidoji Yuki. Am I wright?
Thx for reply
A: Essentially in situations like this each reaction changes the "priority" of who takes the first action. Therefore, the attacker plays Sneak Attack and takes priority; Yuki's controller uses their reaction and takes priority, Yuki's controller will take the first action. The attacker could play a second Sneak Attack to take the priority back and take the first action as well. Jon Palmer, "Daidoji Yuki • Experienced vs sneek atack", 5 May 2012 - Q: I was wondering how the reactions to engaging work in regards to Daidoji yuki exp and things like recruitment officer. For example:
At a battlefield where I am the attacker since I am the active player I declare Yuki's reaction, then I give my opponent a chance to react to engaging. Then I react again to engaging to create a samurai personality. Assuming no other reactions to engaging would I get the first action per Yuki's reaction or not. Essentially does it check only once when I take the reaction or constantly check for all scout personalities until the battle starts?
Daidoji Yuki (Experienced) Recon Reaction: After engaging at Yuki's battlefield, if all your Personalities there are Scouts: You have Reconnaissance there. You have the first opportunity in this battle to take a Battle action or pass.
Recruitment officer Reaction: After engaging at a battlefield where you control one or more units, bow this card: Create a 2F/2C/2PH Ronin • Samurai Personality there. Remove him from the game when this turns ends.
Thanks
A: The condition "if all your Personalities there are Scouts" in Yuki's ability is checked only when you announce the action. Once the conditions of an action have been checked, they do not (generally) need to be checked again, so any change in the truth value of the condition is irrelevant.
