Rules Q&A
- Q: Since the action of destroying the Personality is technically another player's action... does the Personality targeted by The Last One remain after this battle ends?
A: Yes.
http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Special_wording ... References: "References involving a game state in the context of a past occurence check the game state only at the time of the occurrence."
When an action takes effect, card text is read from the perspective of the person who controlled it at the time (see viewtopic.php?f=59&t=81760 and viewtopic.php?f=59&t=79202). Zen Faulkes, "Clarification: The Last One vs. Chi Death, Daigotsu", 10 Aug 2010 - Q: I have a question in relation to the interactions of playing I do not die so easily as reaction to a personality being targeted by enticement or Daigotsu.
Player B plays enticement on Player A's Personality 1; in reaction Player A, plays I do not die so easily. As Player A's action, they lobby for the favor, (or some other action); Does, Personality 1, then die because of the triggered effect on I do not die so easily?
Question 2 is the same but during battle after Personality 1 has been targeted by Daigotsu, and Player performs any action (aside from pass).
Reaction: After another player's action targets your Personality during a battle: Negate his destruction from the action's effects. After the resolution of your next Battle action this battle, destroy him.
A: Underline is my point of order.
You cannot use I Do Not Die So Easily! in reaction to Enticement. Enticement is not usable during battle.
With Daigotsu exp 3, assuming you play a Battle action during that battle, your personality will be destroyed. Dan Jacobson, "I do not die so easily and Enticement/Daigotsu", 12 Apr 2010 - Q: I assign Daidoji Gempachi (3F - honorable) and Doji Random to attack my opponent. He assigns Diagotsu exp2. Gempachi uses his ability. What will be his force after the armies engage?
A: http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Gene ... bout_stats: "Setting stats to a value: Various effects will set a stat to some particular value, such as effects that switch or copy stats. To set a stat to a value, give an appropriate bonus or penalty.
"Example: A 0F/3C Personality has a +1C weapon attached. An effect switches the Personality's Force and Chi. The Personality's Force gains +4F, and Chi receives -4C. Because the weapon's bonus is already part of the stat, it is not reapplied, and the Personality is destroyed due to having 0C."
Traits apply before abilities. You do not give another penalty, because Gempachi already has a penalty that has been figured into the stat.
7. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu exp2 and Daidoji Gempachi", 26 Nov 2007 - Q: What if after he brings Etsui I send Daigotsu home, can he come back to battle by any means that does not envolve killing or bowing Etsui?
A: Too broad to say definitively, but probably not. Zen Faulkes, "Tsuruchi Etsui Exp. and Death After Life", 22 Sep 2007 - Q: Daigotsu Spider Clan • Clan Champion • Shugenja • Duelist • Shadowlands • Experienced 2 • Unique • Loyal Lose 20 Honor. Personalities opposing Daigotsu have a Force penalty equal to their Personal Honor. Battle/Open: Even if Daigotsu is bowed: Straighten a target Shadowlands Personality and bow or straighten a target Shadowlands card. Force 7 Chi 6 Honor - Gold 12 Phonor 1Okay, let's assume Daigotsu XP 2 attacks a Province. He's alone, but thanks to a Force boost of +2, he has enough Force available to crack said Province like a nutshell, all by himself.
Togashi Tsuri
Dragon Clan • Monk • Tattooed • Experienced • Unique Battle: Exchange Tsuri's Force or his Chi with the same stat on a target Personality opposing him. Reaction: After a Ring bows: Gain 1 Honor. Force 3 Chi 3 Honor 4 Gold 6 Phonor 4 Togashi Tsuri now is assigning to defend. As he's opposing Daigotsu, he has a Force penality of his own PH, which is 4. That lowers his Force to 0 (-1).
So far, so good.
But now Tsuri is crazy enough to exchange his Force with Daigotsu's.
What is happening?
A possibility is that now, Tsuri has Daigotsu's Force of 9 (7+2 Force Boost), while Daigotsu has Tsuri's meek Force of 0 (-1). But shouldn't Tsuri still receive the Force penality for opposing Daigotsu? And does this mean that Tsuri now has a Force of 5 (9 - PH 4 = 5), while Daigotsu still has those meek 0 (-1)? And is this Force Penality even exchanged, or will Daigotsu receive Tsuri's normal Force of 3, after the exchange?
Help?
A: Switch current stats and do not reapply bonuses.
Additional: Just added a section on setting stats to a particular value in the Rules Wiki. http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Gene ... bout_stats Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu XP 2 and Togashi Tsuri XP", 23 Aug 2007
