Rules Q&A
- Q: Am I reading this correctly when I say that, if Daigotsu is in the discard pile, and he's still Shadowlands, he has the ability to bow for the Black Wind ability?
A: He still has the ability, but he can't use it in the Discard Pile any more than Kakita Korihime can duel you from beyond the grave. Martin Lund, "Rules for 7 January 2005", 12 Jan 2005 - Q: And if a Shadowlands Daigotsu is dead in a discard pile, can Shahai (exp) use a Blood token to gain the same ability?
A: "Shahai gains a copy of one of his printed abilities until she uses this ability again."
She specifies "printed ability." Any ability gained via an effect (even an effect of that own card's traits) is not one of its "printed abilities" unless the effect that put it there specifies such. Martin Lund, "Rules for 7 January 2005", 12 Jan 2005 - Q: Since the action of destroying the Personality is technically another player's action... does the Personality targeted by The Last One remain after this battle ends?
A: Yes.

When an action takes effect, card text is read from the perspective of the person who controlled it at the time (see viewtopic.php?f=59&t=81760 and viewtopic.php?f=59&t=79202). Zen Faulkes, "Clarification: The Last One vs. Chi Death, Daigotsu", 10 Aug 2010 - Q: if I use Daigotsu to take control of an opponents personality and he either has an unused chags armor or i move one to him can I use its reaction to save him[?]
A: No, you may not.
Chagatai's Armor's Reaction triggers "Before the resolution of another player's action". At that time, the effects of Daigotsu's action have not yet resolved and the current controller whomever has the armor attached has the option of taking the Reaction, not you. (That WOULD be awfully nice of him to do for you, but it's his choice.) By the time you take control, the trigger has passed and it's no longer legal to take the Armor's Reaction.
The same is essentially true for I Do Not Die So Easily. Its trigger is after targeting, which is still before the effect gives you control. Brook Cunningham, "Daigotsu And Chagatai's armor", 20 May 2010 - Q: I have a question in relation to the interactions of playing I do not die so easily as reaction to a personality being targeted by enticement or Daigotsu.
Player B plays enticement on Player A's Personality 1; in reaction Player A, plays I do not die so easily. As Player A's action, they lobby for the favor, (or some other action); Does, Personality 1, then die because of the triggered effect on I do not die so easily?
Question 2 is the same but during battle after Personality 1 has been targeted by Daigotsu, and Player performs any action (aside from pass).
Reaction: After another player's action targets your Personality during a battle: Negate his destruction from the action's effects. After the resolution of your next Battle action this battle, destroy him.
A: Underline is my point of order.
You cannot use I Do Not Die So Easily! in reaction to Enticement. Enticement is not usable during battle.
With Daigotsu exp 3, assuming you play a Battle action during that battle, your personality will be destroyed. Dan Jacobson, "I do not die so easily and Enticement/Daigotsu", 12 Apr 2010 - Q: What if after he brings Etsui I send Daigotsu home, can he come back to battle by any means that does not envolve killing or bowing Etsui?
A: Too broad to say definitively, but probably not. Zen Faulkes, "Tsuruchi Etsui Exp. and Death After Life", 22 Sep 2007 - Q: and as example Daigotsu or other lose honor cards
Would I gain 20 honor when my oponent brings Daigotsu into play before the clause on his shadowlands/spider stronghold to negate loses?
I know Daigotsu just got previewed but the question is gaining honor from my opponent losses, just daigotsu had a bigger number and hadn't the same clause as Oni no Akuma (cannot negate the loss).
Thanks for your time.
A: When Samurai Edition rules come into effect, the Spider stronghold will work like the Shadowlands strongholds did: there will be no honor loss to manipulate at all.
While I'm here, this is as good a time to mention that when the Samurai Edition rules hits, The Spider's Lair stronghold will not be negating honor losses as it does now. Again, it will work like the Shadowlands strongholds work: there are simply no losses at all, so this means that a Spider's Lair player will not lose honor even for honor losses that cannot be negated. This is not so much a reversal as new rules and wordings coming into effect.
In fact, I should probably sticky this thread for a while. Zen Faulkes, "Dirty Politics + Lose honor for Bringing Onis into play", 27 Jun 2007 - Q: If I were to take the SE Daigotsu and place him in a Shadowlands deck I have, since he is 'loyal', is it illegal? I.e. is he loyal only to Spider or to both, since Shadowlands isn't a clan?
A: Too early to tell, since the cards haven't been released yet. See forum announcements. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu legal in Shadowlands deck?", 27 Jun 2007
