Rules Q&A
- Q: Since the action of destroying the Personality is technically another player's action... does the Personality targeted by The Last One remain after this battle ends?
A: Yes.
http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Special_wording ... References: "References involving a game state in the context of a past occurence check the game state only at the time of the occurrence."
When an action takes effect, card text is read from the perspective of the person who controlled it at the time (see viewtopic.php?f=59&t=81760 and viewtopic.php?f=59&t=79202). Zen Faulkes, "Clarification: The Last One vs. Chi Death, Daigotsu", 10 Aug 2010 - Q: I have a question in relation to the interactions of playing I do not die so easily as reaction to a personality being targeted by enticement or Daigotsu.
Player B plays enticement on Player A's Personality 1; in reaction Player A, plays I do not die so easily. As Player A's action, they lobby for the favor, (or some other action); Does, Personality 1, then die because of the triggered effect on I do not die so easily?
Question 2 is the same but during battle after Personality 1 has been targeted by Daigotsu, and Player performs any action (aside from pass).
Reaction: After another player's action targets your Personality during a battle: Negate his destruction from the action's effects. After the resolution of your next Battle action this battle, destroy him.
A: Underline is my point of order.
You cannot use I Do Not Die So Easily! in reaction to Enticement. Enticement is not usable during battle.
With Daigotsu exp 3, assuming you play a Battle action during that battle, your personality will be destroyed. Dan Jacobson, "I do not die so easily and Enticement/Daigotsu", 12 Apr 2010 - Q: Does the Ce version of Diagotsu's battle ability affect personality's with the Loyal trait?
A: Yes, in that such a Personality will gain the Shadowlands keyword, and no, in that such a Personality will not switch sides (unless they are Loyal to Spider).
http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_L#Loyal Zen Faulkes, "CE Version of Daigotsu and the Loyal trait on a personality", 5 Aug 2009 - Q: considering these posts

soul jar text is here: http://l5rsearch.com/db/search.cgi?cmd= ... rd_id=6542
as i understand it, here is how it (can) work: as lon as the soul jar bearer does not unbow, the resurected peep stays alive. if the soul jar bearer changes, the "unbow" clause applies to the new bearer (who might be unbowed at the time, avoiding to unbow while bearing the soul jar). hence i can tranfser my soul jar between 2 peeps to resurect a free guy per turn
Example: 1 have 2 peeps, called Daigotsu hurlu and Daigotsu Berlu, and zounds of dead people
both Hurlu and berlu are unbowed during my turn 1) I play soul jar on Hurlu. use it (bowing him) to resurect some dead chick 2) i share soul jar to Berlu (who is unbowed).
at my next turn, Berlu didn't bow nor unbow, the dead chick is still there. Hurlu unbows but as he doesn't bear the soul jar none dies 1) I bow Berlu, resurecting a second dead chick 2) i share soul jar to Hurlu (who is unbowed). none dies
and so on and so on. soul jar + 2 peeps allow me to resurect 1 free guy per turn.
does it really work that way?
A: Yes, it does work that way.
Generally, when attachments say, "this personality," they mean "the personality holding this attachment card." Until someone holding the Soul Jar straightens or leaves play the undead horde continues to mill about aimlessly.
It might not seem intuitively "fair," but it hasn't presented any unbalancing results that I've seen. Martin Lund, "sharing soul jar (again)", 26 Nov 2007 - Q: What if after he brings Etsui I send Daigotsu home, can he come back to battle by any means that does not envolve killing or bowing Etsui?
A: Too broad to say definitively, but probably not. Zen Faulkes, "Tsuruchi Etsui Exp. and Death After Life", 22 Sep 2007 - Q: Can Daigotsu (Experienced 2) straighten a already straightened personality (ex: himself) just to bow my Personality with the shadowlands trait?
A: http://rules.l5r.com/Effects#Order_of_effects: "All effects are separate, even if they joined by the word 'and.'"
Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu bowing/unbowing", 6 Sep 2007 - Q: now that Samurai edition has been out for a bit, I would like to again ask a question: Daigotsu's SE card states he is both Shadowlands AND Spider, and that he is loyal. Does this mean he can be played in either deck or only in a Spider deck?
A: In Samurai Edition rules, Shadowlands is not a clan. Nothing can be Loyal to it. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu in a Shadowlands deck", 31 Jul 2007 - Q: If I were to take the SE Daigotsu and place him in a Shadowlands deck I have, since he is 'loyal', is it illegal? I.e. is he loyal only to Spider or to both, since Shadowlands isn't a clan?
A: Too early to tell, since the cards haven't been released yet. See forum announcements. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu legal in Shadowlands deck?", 27 Jun 2007 - Q: My friend just bought the Spider Clan deck and put Daigotsu in it. I realize he is the leader of the Spider Clan and for non-tournaments we let him play Daigotsu, but he reads that he will only join a shadowlands player, is there a ruling on his card now being Spider Clan?
A: The Spider Clan does not currently have a Lotus Legal clan champion. A Spider Clan player is not a Shadowlands player. Chris Fuchs, "Daigotsu and the Spider Clan", 4 Jun 2007 - Q: Hey guys, got curious why Black Heart of the Empire is considered an MRP of Daigotsu (wind). They have different titles and their effects (although very similar) have their difference - with the former being able to grant the Shadowlands trait.
A: Because Daigotsu Wind was first printed in H&E with a dual Diamond/Gold bug, BHotE had to be considered a MRP in order to fully replace/supercede it in Diamond legality, unlike the other, Gold-only bugged named Winds. Brook Cunningham, "Oracle of the Void #rules", 4 Nov 2024
