Rules Q&A
- Q: I attack my opponent with three copies of Daigotsu Churo and he defends with a single samurai. As his first action, he plays Turn the Tide.
Can I use the reactions on my Churos to negate their bowing as I target them, leaving me with three straightened Churos that have all used their reactions? I'm assuming that Turn the Tide doesn't go back to re-target Personalities that have had their bowing negated, but I just want to make sure.
Turn the Tide Battle: If your army has one or more unbowed Samurai and the enemy army has more unbowed Personalities than yours: The enemy leader targets and bows a different unbowed Personality in his army, one by one, until his army no longer has more unbowed Personalities than yours, or until he can no longer do so.
Daigotsu Churo Reaction: After an action targets Churo: Either negate the action's effects that bow Churo or negate the action's effects that move Churo.
A: You can't re-target Personalities with Turn the Tide, because that would not be a different unbowed Personality (card text). Zen Faulkes, "Turn the Tide and bow negation", 20 Jul 2009 - Q: If I play Knowledge on Daigotsu Churo and use his Reaction to prevent Churo going home, will it also negate the other personality's movement?
Card text:
Daigotsu Churo Spider Clan • Shadowlands • Undead • Samurai After Churo enters play: Lose 4 Honor. Reaction: After an action targets Churo: Either negate the action's effects that bow Churo or negate the action's effects that move Churo.
Knowledge Dark Virtue Battle: Target one of your Samurai: Move him and a target Personality opposing him home. Draw a number of cards equal to the opposing Personality’s Personal Honor or two, whichever is less.
Thanks, Mark
A: Definition of effects: An effect is anything, other than a cost, that changes the stats, traits, abilities, restrictions, or capabilities of a card, a player, a game entity (such as Provinces), or the game state. Each individual change to a card, a player, a game entity (such as Provinces), or the game state is a separate effect.
Churo moves as a separate effect to the movement of the other Personality. Negating the effect that moves Churo does not negate the effect that moves the other Personality. Alex Jones, "Daigotsu Churo and Knowledge", 28 Feb 2009
