Rules Q&A
- Q: Daigotsu Gahseng: Is the discarding of the Strategy card considered a cost, or an effect of taking an action on the Strategy card?
A: No, it's neither. It's a rulebook effect. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu Gahseng and playing a Dark Virtue", 12 Feb 2010 - Q: Can I play a Dark Virtue for an action printed on it, and then use Daigotsu Gahseng to return it to my hand after the Tidy Up step?
A: No, for reasons above. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu Gahseng and playing a Dark Virtue", 12 Feb 2010 - Q: Can Daigotsu Gahseng react to cards being discarded from focus pools?
A: Yes. http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Effects#Source_of_effects: "Duels come from the effect that created their associated challenge, not the rulebook." By extension, the discard is also an effect of the action. Zen Faulkes, "Daigotsu Gahseng and Focus pool", 26 Dec 2009
