Rules Q&A
- Q: From L5Rsearch.com:
Deep In Meditation Action "Reaction: Play after an opponents turn begins. At the end of the turn, gain honor equal to the number of units that opponent controls unless he or she assigned at least as many units to attack you during an attack phase as you had rings in play when you played this card. Ignore this effect if he or she could not assign that many units in any attack this turn."
What does the last sentence mean?
A: It means you don't get the honor if your opponent was forcibly prevented from attacking you with sufficient units to void your gain. You will only gain honor if he chooses not to attack you. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 January 2002", 9 Jan 2003 - Q: Hmm, palm strikes are cool, but I only play 4 or 5 monks. Besides, deep in meditation is way cool too! It gives ya a little extra against those honor runners, namely you can play your duels, or you can just catch the honor!
Well, let's not overlook the fact that Deep in Meditation is really designed to "force" your opponent to attack you so you can put Ring of Earth into play. He either gives you the Ring or gives you the honor. Too bad it's a rare. Or maybe not, seeing as how it's a pretty specialized card. As an uncommon it'd just be another coaster most of the time.
A: So if it were a rare instead of an uncommon, it would be more powerful? Jeff Alexander, "post for 30 October 2002", 31 Oct 2002
