Rules Q&A
- Q: Deep Snows is a terrain with reminder text I'm having trouble locating the rules around.
Is the reminder text "reactions trigger after traits" mean that when this card enters play it will not trigger to the same movement, or is it just reminding players that they cannot use a reaction to moving before they are bowed by this terrain.
The timing sequence addresses the order that things take priority, but it does not address going through the timing again to the same trigger. (you can trigger other things multiple times save traits which specifically say you cannot, so why not the whole timing sequence if there is a reason to do so?) http://rules.l5r.com/EE_Timing#Timing_sequence It mentions that gold production in step D can satisfy a choice to use the production in step C, so making me wonder that provided they do not conflict; can something in timing sequence D (besides gold production) cause something to happen in timing sequence C. Thus the terrain would bow the people moved via the same trigger that called for its reaction. However nobody I've encountered has read it that way it seems, so I want to clearify.
A: The reminder text is because both the trait and the Reaction have the same trigger, "After an action resolves" - the Reaction has the additional condition that it must be a Battle action, but if the Reaction can be taken, the trait would also trigger if it were in play.
However, as the text reminds you, Reactions are taken after traits are triggered by the same trigger, so when the Terrain enters play, the window has passed for its trait to bow any Personalities moved by the action that triggered the Reaction. Alex Jones, "deep snows", 15 May 2012
