Rules Q&A
- Q: Demonic Possession:
Battle: Target your unbowed Oni: Target an enemy Personality. Give him -2F after each resolution of an action (including this action) taken during this battle.
My question is this: If I am using Demonic Possession, because it is an ongoing effect, do strategies that negate force penalties and bonuses effect Demonic Possession's ongoing effect?
Example 1:
I use Demonic Possession on enemy Personality. Enemy personality loses gets -2F. Enemy personality uses Shameful Injury (Battle: Even if you control no units at the current battlefield: Negate all current Force bonuses and penalties a target Personality has received from actions. Until the turn ends, negate all new Force bonuses or penalties on him from actions.).
A: Here not only is the initial -2F negated, but each subsequent -2F is also negated, per Shameful Injury's text. Dan Jacobson, "Demonic Possesion vs. Force Penalty Negation strategies", 28 Oct 2009 - Q: Example 2:
I use Demonic Possession on enemy Personality. Enemy personality loses gets -2F. Enemy uses Justly Earned Victory (Battle: Negate all current Force bonuses and penalties to cards at this battlefield from actions.).
A: Here, the initial -2F is negated, but another -2F occurs after the resolution of Justly Earned Victory (and loses -2F for each subsequent action played that battle), as Justly Earned Victory is an instantaneous negation, and only negates force bonuses and penalties from action that existed prior to Justly Earned Victory being played.
