Rules Q&A
- Q: Sorry but I'm a little confused about Palmer's ruling here.
What about the action requires a target from the Crane player's side? Is a target required for all players (meaning the action is only legal to play if all players have a personality at the battle field)?
A: My original ruling was incorrect; there's no required targeting on Desperate Mediation. I've updated it. Jon Palmer, "Tatsuzo + Desperate Mediation 2", 19 Apr 2013 - Q: Hi If the personality tatsuzo's open action targets is at the battlefield, is it legal for me to play desperate mediation without presence as a 1 honor send home?
Desperate Mediation Battle: In turn order, starting with you, each player targets and moves home one of his Personalities at the current battlefield. Then, gain Honor equal to the number of Personalities this moved.
Doji Tatsuzo Political Open: Target a Personality: While he is at the current battlefield (later this turn), you may take a Battle action even if you control no units there. After that action ends, end this action's effect on him.
A: Unfortunately, trying to take this action will not meet the Good Faith Rule's required targeting of your Personality. So you may not. Jon Palmer, "Tatsuzo and Desperate Mediation", 15 Apr 2013 - Q: Hi,
need a claryfication.
I play a Desperate Mediation: Battle: In turn order, starting with you, each player targets and moves home one of his Personalities at the current battlefield. Then, gain Honor equal to the number of Personalities this moved.
and on the battelfild is an opposed Oni personality. Can my opponent target his Oni and nagate this ation by undetectable enemy? If he can than I gues that the whole action is nagated and My personality eityher wont move from battelfield, and I wont get any honor.
undetectable: Reaction: After another player's action targets your Oni: Negate its effects.
thx for reply
A: Because the targeting on Desperate Mediation is part of the effects, it happens in order. Therefore, the person playing Desperate will first target their Personality, and move them home. Then the Oni is targeted, and Undetectable Enemy is played. This negates the remainder of the action, which is the Oni's movement, and the honor gain. Jon Palmer, "Desperate Mediation", 7 Oct 2012
