Rules Q&A
- Q: Per this, am I correct in assuming that, since the Loyal person hit by Discovering a Conspiracy no longer has a clan alignment, he can be taken control of by another player? (With Shadow Dragon XP2 for example)
A: No. You may not take control of a Loyal Personality you do not share a Clan alignment with.
However, your Loyal Personality who loses your Clan alignment is not immediately destroyed - although if he is destroyed, you will not be able to return him to play. If you use Black Marketeering to take a Personality with the owners clan alignment, subsequently giving them Loyal with Learning will not stop the Personality's control returning at the end of the turn. Only a Personality who does not share a clan alignment will not return if you give them Loyal.
Learning says, "... a keyword on an enemy Personality." It does not target that Personality, and "enemy" includes cards in units at all locations, so the keyword can be copied off a Personality not at the current battlefield. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
QUESTION: What if I use Discovering a Conspiracy to remove said clan alignment prior to taking said personality. Will I then retain said personality.
Discovering a conspiracy Battle/Open: Choose your performing unbowed magistrate and target a personality: His lord casts him out of treachery. permanently remove his clan alignment keywords. dishonor him. if he is at a battlefield, bow him and choose a player who gains or loses 1 honor.

PS. Id also like to know the answer to Nikkoichi's Question. Posted a day ago. Same card involved. Black Marketeering. Thanks.
A: Let me first apologize for the lack of expediency in answering your question.
In your example, removing the owner's Clan alignment from the "stolen" Personality who now has Loyal (thanks to Learning) would prevent him from returning to his owner's control when Black Marketeering attempts to give him back to his owner.
This is because the delayed effect for returning control triggers "before the turn ends" and, by rulebook default, Ongoing effects (such as the gained keyword from Learning) last "until the end of the turn." As such Black Marketeering will attempt to return the Personality while he still has the Loyal keyword, which will fail due to the restrictions from Loyal.
Once more, very sorry for the delay in answering your question. Ben Higgins, "Black Marketeering, Follow up Question", 12 Jan 2013 - Q: Regarding this http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=95609
Once I remove the clan alignment trait from my opponent's champion, can i now gain control of him using my Yoritomo Sachina xp or a certain ninja action?
Thanks.
A: No you may not, as seen here: http://alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=93993&p=1244965&hilit=+Loyal+Conspiracy#p1244965

Brook Cunningham, "Discovering a Conspiracy and Loyal Keyword 2", 10 Jan 2012 - Q: The main question here is what happens if I remove the clan trait from a Loyal personality with Discovering a Conspiracy, since the player should not be able to have control of him/her ?????
Discovering a Conspiracy Battle/Open: Choose your performing unbowed Magistrate and target a Personality: His lord casts him out for treachery. Permanently remove his Clan alignment keywords. Dishonor him. If he is at a battlefield, bow him and choose a player, who gains or loses 1 Honor.
Thanks
A: Nothing, as described here. Alex Jones, "Discovering a Conspiracy and Loyal Keyword", 9 Jan 2012 - Q: if i use this card on some one who is loyal, do they have to discard them? they no long share a clan alignment.
Loyal
A Personality with the Loyal keyword will not become controlled by a player who does not share a Clan alignment with that Personality - either by bringing into play or by changing control.
A: No, the Personality would not be discarded.
Loyalty is only checked when bringing a card into play or changing control, not constantly. Brook Cunningham, "Discovering a Conspiracy", 26 Nov 2011 - Q: If I target a Loyal personality with Discovering a Conspiracy, can I now take control of that personality with effects like Enticement or Yoritomo Sachina?

Yoritomo Sachina Political Limited: Once per game, target a Personality, pay Gold equal to his unit's total Gold Cost plus four, and bow Sachina: Take control of him. After the next time this game Sachina leaves play, give control of him to his owner.
Enticement Open: Pay Gold equal to the total Gold Cost of the targeted Personality's unit: Lose 3 Honor. Take control of a target Personality. While you control him, you may not assign his unit to attack and he will not move to attack. Before this turn ends, give control of him to his owner.
A: No, no-one may take control of him - and if he leaves play, his owner may not bring him into play.
See Glossary, Loyal: A Personality with the Loyal keyword will not become controlled by a player who does not share a Clan alignment with that Personality - either by bringing into play or by changing control.
