Rules Q&A
- Q: What happens to the Rings the you put into play from the Voice of the Emperor when Doji Kurohito Dies and the Voice of the Emperor is then removed from the game?
A: The effects of an Action are not automatically ended just because the card that generated them has left play. Voice of the Emperor says, "Political Limited: Once per turn, bow your Stronghold or a Courtier to put an Elemental Ring into play from your hand. While in play, that Ring does not count towards an Enlightenment Victory, and at the beginning of each of your turns, discard a card from your hand or shuffle the Ring back into your Fate deck."
That's all one ability. Its effects persist until the Ring leaves play as per the "while" duration in the second sentence. Whether the Voice stays in play or not is irrelevant once the Action has been played. Every turn you may choose to either discard to keep the card or shuffle it back into your deck. The effect ends once that Ring leaves play, not the Voice. Martin Lund, "Rules for 27 July 2004", 30 Jul 2004 - Q: If I have Rui vs. Doji Kurohito with my opponent over 20 honor can she still kill him (checks against printed force)?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 17 September 2003", 18 Sep 2003 - Q: the experieced version of Doji Kurohito says that when you bring him into play you may bring another wind you do not control into play but remove it when he leaves play. The experience 2 in Diamond says all but Daigotsu. My question concerning this are you able to bring Daigotsu out with the first version[?]
A: No (card text). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 22 August 2003, Part 2", 23 Aug 2003 - Q: If you are over 20 family honor is Doji Kurohito 5f/6c (due to his trait) while in the dynasty deck or discard pile?
A: Yes. [GE p. 33] Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 September 2002", 28 Sep 2002 - Q: http://rules.l5r.com/Legacy_Pregame_Rules#Personalities
i just wanted to clear out the reason why Doji Kurohito [basic] and Doji Sesshu are considered the same. why?
with the SE template I could understand why "Soul of X" isn't placed in Doji Sesshu; but with it's absence all together, as well as the difference in trait - I am confused why Sesshu is considered Soul of Kurohito
Doji Sesshu 3F/4C 4HR/8GC/2PH Crane Clan • Samurai Sesshu has +2F and +2PH (even if out of play) while your Family Honor is 21 or more.
Doji Kurohito 3F/4C 4HR/8GC/2PH Crane Clan • Samurai Kurohito gains +2F/+2C while you have over 20 Family Honor.
Bolded text to emphasize difference.
PH and Chi function very differently to my experience. will it break the Legacy environment to have these two considered separate? i don't think so.
this both but a question and a simple suggestion.
A: They're more alike than Akodo Seiichi and Ikoma Ken'o. Alex Jones, "Doji Kurohito vs Doji Sesshu", 26 Aug 2011
