Rules Q&A
- Q: What happens to the Rings the you put into play from the Voice of the Emperor when Doji Kurohito Dies and the Voice of the Emperor is then removed from the game?
A: The effects of an Action are not automatically ended just because the card that generated them has left play. Voice of the Emperor says, "Political Limited: Once per turn, bow your Stronghold or a Courtier to put an Elemental Ring into play from your hand. While in play, that Ring does not count towards an Enlightenment Victory, and at the beginning of each of your turns, discard a card from your hand or shuffle the Ring back into your Fate deck."
That's all one ability. Its effects persist until the Ring leaves play as per the "while" duration in the second sentence. Whether the Voice stays in play or not is irrelevant once the Action has been played. Every turn you may choose to either discard to keep the card or shuffle it back into your deck. The effect ends once that Ring leaves play, not the Voice. Martin Lund, "Rules for 27 July 2004", 30 Jul 2004 - Q: the experieced version of Doji Kurohito says that when you bring him into play you may bring another wind you do not control into play but remove it when he leaves play. The experience 2 in Diamond says all but Daigotsu. My question concerning this are you able to bring Daigotsu out with the first version[?]
A: No (card text). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 22 August 2003, Part 2", 23 Aug 2003 - Q: A crane player is facing another crane player. Crane player A has a Doji Reju with a Doji house guard and a Uji no Shiryo attached. Uji no Shiryo battle: If there are one or more units in the opposing player's army, bow Uji to give this personality -1f/-1c and move this unit into the current battle.
Crane player B has a Doji Kurohito
now here is the question. Player A declares an attack and declares no infantry. Player B places his Kurohito in his 2nd province( both players have 4 provinces)
Now player A resolves the battle in province 3 first. Can he bow Uji and move Reju into a province where there is no defending army?
I am pretty sure I know the answer is no, but I just wanted to double check.
A: At Province 3, there are no units in the opposing player's army. Uji can't be used. [card text] Jeff Alexander, "post for 19 February 2003", 21 Feb 2003 - Q: I have been given two conflicting pieces of information and I am curious to which one is correct.
I had a Doji Kurohito and a Doji Kurohito-Experienced. Can I have three of the original and one of the experienced OR is it just three of a personality in a deck regadless of experience level?
A: You may have three of the original (or only one if the original is Unique) plus one of the Experienced. If an "Experienced 2" version exists, you may also have one of that, and so on. Each Experience level counts separately against the per-card deck construction limits. [AOF rulebook pp. 20 & 26] Jeff Alexander, "post for 15 January 2002", 16 Jan 2002 - Q: 3.) Not AOF-related, but: I have Doji Kurohito XP in a battle and want to duel an opposing personality. To produce the Gold required, I use Asahina Sekawa's ability. My opponent says "aha, a Reaction" and plays Fall On Your Knees. Now:
1.) It works because it's a Reaction during a battle. 2.) It doesn't work because it's a Reaction all right, but taken by a card outside battle and not relevant to the battle either (because Sekawa reacts to the payment of Gold - IE, I am bowing zero holdings and augmenting said production with Sekawa).
Which?
A: 1.) It works because it's a Reaction during a battle. You now have the option of generating more Gold or allowing Kurohito's action to be canceled. Jeff Alexander, "post for 18 December 2001", 19 Dec 2001
