Rules Q&A
- Q: Doji Ran can move into Battlefield A by targeting a card at Battlefield B. Is this correct?
A: No. References to "enemy leader" or "enemy army" refer to current battle, according to Jeff Alexander. Zen Faulkes, "Moving Doji Ran", 21 Apr 2005 - Q: Question under Lotus Rules. If Doji ran was ever at a battelfield, you satisfy rule of precense. But I think Rule of relevance still takes effect for cards like strength of the crane right? You cannot target a personality on a different battelfield to use strength of the crane? anyone can confirm? @Brook Cunningham Here is the rule of relevance from lotus rulebook • A player can take only Battle and Open actions that involve the current battle somehow. This is called the Rule of Relevance. The action must: • Come from, target, affect, play, or create a card or token at the current battlefield or attached to the current Province, or • Target or affect the current Province itself, or • Move a card or token into the current battlefield or onto to the current Province
A: Actually, I'm pretty sure you can use SotC tageting a Crane you control anywhere as long as the target of the RA is at the current battlefield (and you have presence, of course, be it from Ran's trait or actually having it). Notice, Relevance bullet 1 indicates the action must (underlined emphasis mine) "Come from, target, affect, play, or create". It "affects" the RA target, so you're good. Oh, wait wait wait, sorry. Gotta look a little deeper than just P and R.... Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 17 Dec 2025
